Father of 4 girls, head of history in a fantastic school in Leicestershire. Also dabbled in teaching Geography, RS, English and Maths.
Using this in my GCSE teaching. We need to diversify the curriculum and open up these pathways of thought.
Odin, in the poem Havamal, puts it this way:

The lame can ride horse, the handless drive cattle,
the deaf one can fight and prevail,
'tis happier for the blind than for him on the bale-fire,
but no man hath care for a corpse.

Boy-girl seating plans are sexist. They also perpetuate misogynistic attitudes and damage both boys and girls. Think about what you are saying when you introduce this splitting on gender lines. #Edusky

Does anyone have tips for using mini whiteboards (MWB) in the History classroom from those who use/have used them and have come across all the good and the bad with them.

I have plenty of ideas; concrete examples please!

I wonder how much data training people have had when they enter into mid-leader roles. I've had very little in my career, maybe using the software - but, crucially- not the thinking behind the data. Or how to use the data to make judgements and analyse whether they are valid.

Why is it that the night before going back to work is it the night when the twins wake up 3 times. In addition the dog had a fit at 5am. I'm exhausted already!

Recommendations please.
I'm starting a 'family book club' with my wife, 8yo ans 12 yo.

We want challenging language, and topics/themes but also somewhat age appropriate for the (mature) 8yo.

We also want a range of backgrounds of authors and genres.

Suggestions?
