The absolute misogynist characterisation of a woman in the news as a member of the animal kingdom is unbecoming of anyone who wishes to be considered a journalist. Language like that in our public political discourse went out a long time ago. There will be some who say 'it's his job to be provocative, I reject that assertion 100%, given the agressive derogatory nature of the term 'chick'.
I would expect nothing less than an apology for his words, they are disgusting in 2025.
Also could NZ Herald show some leadership & turn off the comments on these highly emotional subjects. The absolute torrent of abuse and hate directed at the leader of the Greens & the Green Party itself is unconscionable, and with NZ Herald leaving them up suggests NZ Herald condones these anonymous cowardly comments.

They want the Summary Offences Amendment Bill to pass, which risks criminalising legitimate protest, is vague/unnecessary, gives wide Police discretion, allows arrest without warning, and could chill free expression.

For me, I fail to see how breaking a solitary window compares with the levels of harm and abuse that Winston and the NZ govt have enacted and supported here and around the world. Yet the person being charged is the window breaker, while politicians with body counts walk free.
