If you can't stand up for a fellow journalist when she's being ridiculously bullied and demeaned for asking a basic question of a public leader, you sure as hell aren't going stand up for anything as abstract as a national principle or ethos.

American journalism is dying. And with it, our republic.

The president of the United States had his DOJ raid the Fulton County election office and seized ballots. This is clearly a dry run for 2026. Yet, this is treated by too many in legacy media as normal.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Minneapolis has seen a stunning 1,646% spike in calls from families who can't pay rent because they're afraid to leave their homes to work.

This is state violence manufacturing housing precarity in real time.

In a way, I find the authoritarian takeover of our media system even more disturbing than the authoritarian takeover of our political system.

Our political system has been failing basically my entire adult life. But, the media system provided accountability and sort of worked. Now it’s collapsing.

just one data point out of many:

99% of FDA-approved drugs were developed through NIH-funded basic, translational, and clinical research

there are huge contributions to public health measures (surveillance, prevention, community-level interventions)

it’s all evidence based — no sacred cows
I doubt that there is a single family in America that hasn’t benefitted directly from the NIH.

I think there are a lot of us who feel like we've been yelling this frantically into the void for a long time now. The experts keep saying it. All the signs are here. Many of us see it, and keep trying to sound the alarm, yet the public remains oblivious. It's terrifying. IDK how we break through.
The fact we have secret police whisking people off the streets doesn’t get enough attention. It ain’t normal and we’re further down the road to authoritarianism than you think.
