I wouldn't put it past the Russians to troll Europe with weird drones, but we should also keep in mind that it's way cheaper and easier for Russia to just use social media to exploit incidents like this.

Or, why send an actual drone when you can fairly easily convince people you did?

There's a very good movie I think you should watch called "Judgment at Nuremberg". It's largely concerned with how fascism grows by convincing people to collaborate right up until they reach their redlines, and then quietly replacing them once the fascists decide they're ready to cross the redlines.
