This Christmas Eve, remember Ukraine.

Darkness, empty chairs, voices gone forever —
this is not fate.

So many beautiful lives were taken,
not by time,
but by Russia’s war.

On Christmas Eve 1968, in Lunar orbit, the Apollo 8 crew took this photo: “Earthrise."

I'll never forget how inspiring the Apollo missions were to my brother and me as kids. They showed us what our country and humanity can accomplish when we work together toward a common goal.

This has happened before. In the late 1930s, Eddie Bauer doctored a photo of their original store, removing the animal carcasses. This was to appeal to urban lifestyle customers drawn to the idea of outdoor life, but didn't like the idea of hunting. Hence renaming hunting coats to barn coats postwar

I taught Philosophy of Disability for the first time at my institution this year and I was absolutely not prepared for the sheer number of students who were like "this course taught me SO much about my disability that I did not know" in their finals.

I always thought the first time I had a chance to see and photograph the Aurora it would be somewhere like Iceland, or Alaska. I was wrong. It was in New Mexico! 😂

And if you look closely, you can see a bit of the Milky Way up above as well.

It is worth pointing out once again that High St near the OSU campus in Columbus had protected bike lanes in 1986; something that is apparently impossible today. See screenshot in the thread.

The Kremlin relies on oil to prop up its war spending and wait out efforts to achieve a just peace.

Republicans and Democrats have a new bill to change that.

Time to make clear that individuals and companies who help Russia sell oil risk losing access to the financial system.
