The thing that bothers me is the number of people with whom I ostensibly share an industry, whose job it is to report on politics, staring open KKK-level racism in the face every day and basically deciding not to say so
What does it say about this country that that the kind of open, rank bigotry Trump administration officials regularly express towards black immigrants apparently has no social cost because of the number of Americans who quietly agree or don't care.

A lot of people today are pointing out that Stephen Miller is a hypocrite and that's all well and true but I think, more simply, he has simply failed to assimilate to the American way of life and as such he, and he alone, should be shipped off to whatever gulag he thinks folks like that belong in.

I think that somewhere along the way something in Stephen Miller got fundamentally damaged. This is neither an excuse nor a mitigating factor; the dude is genuinely fucking evil and he and everything he stands for should be fought against and stopped. But he is something beyond mere sociopathy.
Since Stephen Miller is in the midst of another of his Aryans-only trantrums, we should note that his family are 20th century immigrants from the shtetl of Antopol (Антопаль) then in the Hrodna gubernia of Russia. Applying his immigration rules, they would all have perished in the Holocaust.

Against the advice of basically every review I read and my own better judgement, I'm watching JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH (2025).
This shit, very unsurprisingly, fucking sucks.
Like it's got a little juice occasionally (when it leans towards horror) but this first action setpiece was garbage.

The Clone Wars and Rebels are both very good shows but I can tell you after finishing TCW and starting Rebels, there was something truly thrilling about returning to the iconography of the OT. I think that is a LOT of the explanation for why people overrate Rogue One.

I think the Battle of Scarif is one of the best sequences in the franchise and that papers over the fact that there are about 100 problems with what comes before.
Also: the film looks really good, like, better than anything had since Return of the Jedi, and that matters to people.

rogue one is bad folks. i have believed this since i saw it in theaters and no subsequent rewatch has changed my mind. basically a chop job until the final sequence, which is good (for star wars)
