We didn’t really expect ideologues like the UCP to actually listen and be cool, did we? I mean come on, this the party which handed out ear plugs in the legislature. I’m surprised they haven’t dissolved all public school boards and swept in private charters to take them all over on strike day 1.

I’ve never watched HIMYM. My teenagers watched it on repeat for years, heard so much random dialog I figured I’d heard/seen enough to say it wasn’t for me. I prefer my humour X-Files dark and Dana Scully dry.

I’m not optimistic that the typical rural GOP voting farmer is going to make the mental leap to realize that their own vote has shot themselves in the foot when it comes to global market access. I see the same thing in rural Canada.

I’ll be writing a letter saying much the same thing. I recommend CCing your MLA, and the opposition shadow minister for letters. If enough is received on a topic, the letters may get read into the legislature public record. Enough public pressure CAN move the needle. With the UCP it takes a lot.

Maybe said minister ought to consider ending all tax breaks & corporate subsidies for the industry that seems so keen to squeeze Canada for resource $. Also, let’s pause any plans on taxpayer funded pipelines, yeah? They can pay for that themselves if they want it.

Anyone who has paid the slightest attention to the oil and gas sector knows that they have been automating and cutting their workforce for years, which is why I have always thought it foolish to count on them to create jobs.
