My mother doesn’t understand the point of rewatching but how else does one discover delightful treasures such as this Cairn terrier aka Toto dog attending the first ball in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries with Colin Firth

Your annual reminder that the most revealing difference between Irish and Scottish Gaelic is definitely in the words for December: Mí na Nollag (Month of Christmas) in Ireland, and An Dubhlachd (the Blackness) in Scotland. So once again may I wish you all a lovely Blackness.

Finally—back to my drawing board. It's been a long, long time I couldn't even set foot into my studio (our late son Mike did the electrical wiring & work; the hole in my soul the size of Mike was just... to... raw). Relieved I still have some drawing chops left.

Re the last repost, this 2-part article from the Cartoonist Cooperative Journal about failed unionization efforts in comics offers good historical context for why artists and writers are routinely cut out from making any money off their characters cartoonist.coop/journal/the-...

I often have vivid dreams, but Nancy Drew defeating a criminal by elbow dropping him from 20 feet in the air down into the ocean as her skin was disintegrating has set a new standard

What's a book—or series of books—that you loved as a kid that almost nobody seems to read or even remember nowadays?

I got Tanith Lee's Wolf Tower entirely because I saw the word "wolf," but it really stuck with me! my first ever digital comic was based on it

I just wrote a whole ass paper on on this topic and the misogyny in academic discussions of the romance genre is PALPABLE. If you’re interested in a history of the genre that takes it seriously, I recommend Pamela Regis’ Natural History of the Romance Novel
Despite romance being the best selling genre ever, it is still seen as "lesser than". There is a lot to unpack in that, but it means they are always trying to take the romance out of romance to make it more "respectable".
I keep seeing comments from people adapting romance novels or starring in the adaptations and saying that the ending of these shows (there's more than a few I've seen) should have the MC end up alone and 'find herself' and I'm like, THEN WHY ARE YOU ADAPTING A ROMANCE IF YOU HATE ROMANCE?!?!?!
