Being aware of the amount of dust inherent in a book collection, publishers/printers have come up with various ways to repel or hide dust staining along the top edges. That's one of the reasons top edges on fancy books get gilded.

Ο ένας από τους παππούδες μου ήταν ζαχαροπλάστης. Όταν δεν έφτιαχνε τα υπέροχα γλυκά του σε κείνο το εργαστήριο, που με κάποιο τρόπο καθόρισε τη ζωή μου, έτσι για ξεκούραση, έφτιαχνε καρικατούρες από ζάχαρη (αγαπούσε πολύ τον Ντομιέ). Εδώ, μια του Σαρλ Ντε Γκολ, που σώθηκε.
