I didn’t get this posted over here, but yes, normal distribution assumptions are broken by contemporary sampling and weighting practices.

Just because the results cluster does not automatically mean pollsters are being dishonest and you should stop saying that - esp if you know statistics.
The thread by @nataliej.bsky.social who is also on here explaining why you shouldn’t expect a normal distribution even if there is no herding.

Again, editors need to accept they have a choice: Either run *way* more articles about the indicted rapist fraudster who opposes democracy and has a long list of extreme policy positions...or run the same number of critical stories about both candidates and leave their readers woefully uninformed.

This weekend, I offer a meditation on panic, inspired by a reader's comment.

You see, when you respond to Republican antics with panic, you are following the script. You are performing your part in the play.

Again mentioned @dannagal.bsky.social's fabulous book.
No Time to Panic - Teri Kanefield
First, an announcement. It’s always a satisfying moment when a box of soon-to-be-published books arrives. This time I wrote the text for a graphic novel (the publisher is Macmillan): Between 2017 an...

I’m calling BS on a narrative that’s become widespread: The idea that liberals hope the 14th amendment is the “magical cure-all” that finishes Trump once and for all.

This NYT piece leads with this claim. 1/

Its also just very funny that Dealbook/NYTimes are highlighting Musk, McCarthy and Zaslav as leaders you should pay money to listen to given what happened to Twitter, the House and CBO/HBO in the last year.

Wonder what leaders they did not mention....

Particularly liked this one:
