Bondi, the 59-year old former Florida attorney general, has walked a fine line with Trump. She has traveled with Trump to sporting events but tried to avoid discussing cases directly with him, telling him that case decisions are largely up to the deputy attorney general. Trump occasionally reminds aides about an incident last year in which Trump cut his hand on Bondi’s large wedding ring, causing him to bleed.
