There are many people who simply do not understand the stakes and either understate or overstate them. The issue is not that AI will replace writers or w/e: it can't. The issue is that AI will make our working conditions significantly worse and harm the development of new artists in our fields.

There’s disempowerment in filling kids’ lives w/ stories in media whose vast production costs mean kids have nearly no chance of ever creating one in response. During his graduation speech, NYU student Logan Rozos condemned Israel’s genocide in Gaza and the U.S. role in funding it. The university responded by withholding his diploma, calling his remarks “one-sided” and accusing him of “abusing a privilege.”
