Democratic members of Congress should probably be made to understand that unless they throw everything they have at this, they are next.
Bondi declares war on the courts: "What has happened to our judiciary is beyond me ... they are deranged ... we are sending a very strong message today ... we will come after you and we will prosecute you. We will find you."

Arresting judges. Disappearing people. Punishing law firms. The Supreme needs to come down on him like a ton of judicial bricks now, not later, when it could be too late. Authoritarians get more dangerous the longer they are accommodated.

something to consider when thinking about who’s actually defending democracy.

At some point the press needs to stop adopting right-wing framing that this is a "DEI purge" and call it what it is — white supremacist violence against our collective past.

clearly all pent up for years and now allowing himself to do it because of Trump coming to power

As I wrote last week: "As other information sources fall, Wikipedia’s stubborn independence becomes more vital than ever. The attacks from [the right] aren't just about an online encyclopedia — they're part of a broader assault on any information source that refuses to be controlled."

In 5th grade a woman diagnosed with AIDS came & talked to us about how she was going to be dead within five years. By 10th grade, they’d invented the drugs that would keep her alive until today & she came back & cried as she told us how she didn’t think she’d see her children grow up, but she would
It’s difficult to express how much progress has been made. When I was a kid, AIDS was a death sentence. When I was a teenager doing peer sex ed for the local AIDS Project, we had antiretrovirals, which turned HIV into a chronic condition, but you still had to wait *six months* post exposure to test
Freddy Mercury died of AIDS 33 years ago today. With modern medical technology, he likely would have lived. Never forget how much progress against major infectious disease has been made in a short time. We are at risk now of rolling back much of that progress.

"Here the numbers as they actually exist in the real world:

Transgender: 1 percent

Muslim: 1 percent

Jewish: 2 percent

Black: 12 percent

Live in New York City: 2 percent

Gay or lesbian: 3 percent"

If they're this divorced from reality I guarantee these folks cannot conceive magnitude of $1bn
“In 2022, YouGov asked “What percentage of Americans do you think are ___?”

The results were hilarious.

Trans: 21%
Muslim: 27%
Jewish: 30%
Black: 41%
Live in NYC: 30%
Gay or lesbian: 30%

The errors are off by orders of magnitude. The trans estimation by 2,000%.”

Did you know that nearly everyone in U.S. jails can vote, but that very very few do? This is due largely to apathy or even obstinance of sheriffs who run jails.

One state this election will test what happens when sheriffs are forced to make jails polling places: boltsmag.org/colorado-vot...
Colorado Adopts First-in-Nation Mandate for Voting Centers in Jails
People held in county jails typically retain the right to vote but face enormous hurdles to actually casting a ballot. Lawmakers passed a bill meant to remedy the issue.

- Trump meets Bezos’s team in Austin.
- Bezos orders WaPo publisher Will Lewis to scrap the Harris endorsement and instead endorse no candidate.
