Every woman and female-presenting person I know has these stories. Every one.
“Fucking bitch.”
I’ve heard that tone of voice.

“Fucking bitch,” he says to me after I put my headphones back in at a coffee shop to end end unwanted conversation.

“Fucking bitch,” he says to me after following me into Food Lion for “taking his parking spot.”

“Fucking bitch.”
I could go on.
This is my take on it. An amped-up man not having his authority “respected”—especially by women—tipped him over the edge.

It’s a common tale, isn’t it? Male rage. “Fucking bitch,” one says, after he discharges his weapon.

The appropriate reaction to not having your orders followed is not to execute the person.

Violence has always been the first resource of toxic men.

If you need someone to tell you: you are safe tonight. It’s OK to put down your phone and sleep. The world will still be consuming itself tomorrow. Right now you need rest. Close your eyes and imagine you’re a bird, that you can see the electromagnetic current of the earth.

>> My family had a sad ‘goodbye tree’ song which I sang as a child, but it made my offspring cry. I dropped it

We’re allowed to change tradtitions, lose those that don’t serve/delight us, & create new ones that do

Let’s not become accumulations of dry things whose presence merely perpetuates loss.

Was watching a Tiktok from a creator I follow from Scotland who was trying to tell us in the US that we can ban together to go on strike and stop the country and work towards a fasciotomy. What they didn't seem to understand, and someone pointed out, that to start with, we are deeply divided […]

It is a good time to remind people of the 5 Calls app. It gives you the phone numbers and a script if you need one. It is extremely helpful.

Looks like Murray's voice mail boxes are full atm but was able to leave a message for Cantwell at her DC number and Jayapal at her's.

Days like this, I need a list.

Selfcare: fix own oxygen mask

Celebrate beauty: Tolkien’s birthday

Art = resistance: make & support it

Stop supporting US: cancel Netflix

Be kind, but do not tolerate the intolerant. Punch up

Prepare to share: shelter/space, £ skills

CNN: We have major breaking news. CNN just learning of explosions in Caracas, Venezuela… We have now have CNN's own teams that have personally witnessed explosions.

Made a big pot of posole for dinner as has become tradition for NYE. Yummy soup to give us warmth and strength into the new year.

It's the end of the year, do you know where your social media is paid for?

If you're here on the Fediverse, check out your instance's "About" page, and donate if that's something they ask for - because the answer is probably "by you"! Which is great, because it means you're not the product […]

Got the power booster hooked up to the Tempest. Poor thing has been having a big problem with the darkness lately. I've been lucky if it stayed up 4-5 hours a day. Happy to have it back. On top of the rest, I've been dealing with some gnarly sinus headaches lately and wanted to correlate […]

I know you think I'm ruining this place for you. Let me offer some solutions that work better than telling me how, or about what topics, I should post (which works very poorly):

- Don't follow me
- Mute me
- Block me

These also work if you replace "me" with any other accounts you find […]

The thing about "Gen X is too old to be relevant" discourse is a few short years ago we were told we were too young to be relevant.

Relevance is a demographic numbers game. We didn't play it then and we don't play it now.

Millennial cultural hegemony is just Boomer hegemony with more pride flags.

See also: herd immunity and getting vaccines. Anytime you do something to protect community health, you are doing a service. Some people, particularly right-wing folks, are me-mentality and not we. They are not your friends.
It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic.

It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today.

Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

Poking at #meshcore again, and my contact list is exploding! Never seemed to have that much luck with #meshtastic. I've gotten repeaters from as far south as Olympia and as far as BC to the north. That's impressive!
