I mean, isn't loving your queer neighbors still loving your neighbors? Wasn't that literally the entire point of the episode being quoted here that we can still love each other even though we're different, and that love is not expressed through violence? They cite *Aunt Ruth* for Larry's sake.

Some of my favourite fan-works are those where it's not initially obvious that they're fan-works. You'll be reading a grindingly realistic depiction of the protagonist's minimum wage service industry job and struggles with gender dysphoria and clinical depression, then 35 pages in Pikachu shows up.

I also changed the pose to make it look more like it's standing protectively over someone, and changed the coloration of the head and legs. Then I actually drew out the antennae, as loathe as I was to do so, and the result is a much better design. Still not happy 100% with the legs' colors.

I liked the core idea, but the shape was too ant-like and the pose was too frail. I asked @shinkerron.bsky.social for advice, and he suggested to push the proportions bulkier and move the eyes to the side of the head.

Been away from my art desk for a bit due to a move, but I forgot to post this earlier, so here's a freebie while I get back into the swing of things. Back in May, I reworked one of my Pokémon Design concepts. Adjusted the pose and the build and now Curapice feels much better.
Original design for curapice; a red ant-like creature is low to the ground with a shield-like pair of beetle wings on its back. It has a pill-shaped head with blue eyes on the front, and long pointed antennae. A redesigned curapice, standing up with its back, now drawn like a thicker shell, posed upright toward the camera to show the red cross-like pattern on its back. It more clearly resembles a beetle.
