Above all else, I try to give people room to surprise me.

Institutions? LOL no, absolutely not.
The Peripheral (2014)
Why would someone pay $20k for a robot controlled by a human in a remote location to do things more slowly and clumsily when the median wage for a maid or housekeeper is $33k per year, which is typically spread across 10-20 households?

This thread reminding me to finish reading Glut, mine its bibliography for more reading material, and dig in to more recent scholarship...
in doing research for a chapter called "Library science is the OG data science," I'm always stricken by just *how much* library lit out there that is always somehow omitted in contemporary data science discourse, and how much there is to learn from radical + progressive librarianship practice

At first I laughed at the phrase "sad band for high school".

Then I remembered when and how I became obsessed with Belle and Sebastian.
It's how I got into The Replacement.

It's how I got into Frank Black before the Pixies.

It's how I found my sad band for high school, The The.

That was a good babysitting gig.

Plus they had The Incredible Machine on their PC.

She swung by her teeth from a noose
But one matinee, her bridgework gave way

A question I might ask election officials in Michigan: is it possible for a registered voter to submit a completely unmarked ballot and still show up in the database as having voted?

A question for anyone who has submitted a completely unmarked ballot: why?

If authenticity is important and you're buying from Amazon, see if the product code starts with X. Those are linked to a particular seller, anything else might be co-mingled. Also: only read the 1-star reviews. If you ever encountered FBA items in Receive, Stow, Problem Solve, or ICQA, you know why.

Goodbye to one of my favorite views of the Empire State Building. Madison Square Park, 23rd Street, and 5th Avenue won't be the same without you.
