Abolish ICE. Destroy their weapons and melt down their equipment. Deny their agents, employees, and bosses all government employment for all time. Remove the agency entirely from the budget and give the money to public libraries and free health care.

The "ICE is using military tactics suited for a warzone, not for American streets" rhetoric kinda misses the point that warzones are not naturally occuring. The US military creates war zones from residential neighborhoods and the tactics are not more justifiable just because it's overseas

Our community is in peril. Our neighbors need our help in this time of ICE presence and subzero temperatures.

Mpls has a shortage of available shelter for residents, and our city govt has not developed adequate resources to humanely house people.

Please support MIWRC in this time of emergency.

All of this. the entire police-ification and militarization of immigration enforcement is a real problem. Turn it back to being a normal civilian bureaucratic agency and make the explicit mission one of facilitating immigration within the rules rather than criminalizing it.
Return immigration law enforcement to DoJ. Travel issues including naturalization and visas to Commerce. Make FEMA independent. Coast guard to transport. TSA to transport. It doesn’t solve everything (INS enforcement could be draconian too) but it starts the process.
It's a very easy Q to ask Dems. Yes or no, do you want to abolish? Strong pols like AOC can take the Q and explain what they actually want.

(I still think not having a response to the Q is a political risk, as is saying "yes" without explaining how you'd enforce law, but duh.)

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

one of the roles of the league should be to mitigate the impact that systemic racism from media, fans and coaches has on players and the game, not legitimize it. the hip rule exacerbates the racial wage gap, capitalizes on bias, encourages inequitable treatment, and leaves the league worse for it.

So, if you’re an NWSL GM, you are not allowed to decide yourself — using all of the tools of a pro team’s front office — that a Player has a High-enough Impact to warrant a certain salary. But you *are* allowed to vote on a list that would determine that that Player has a High-enough Impact.

Sure.
The ESPN FC top 50 is here and we need to talk about the sudden conflict of interest the league has created with the high-impact player rule.

With coaches and GMs weighing in on these lists, they can influence whether or not their players can get a bag.

this is the other thing, the league asked for an extension on the grievance then used it to rush this across the line knowing the nwslpa already objected to it. they’re attempting to use the holiday to force a concession.
Doing this right before Christmas is extra nasty, btw. I know what you are, NWSL.

I have a lot of things to say, but ultimately you can’t have players contracts be dictated by media members - no matter which way you put it, the media is dictating the majority of these awards. Yes I know for some player and coaches vote too but the majority is dictated by media

David Brooks, who wrote in the NYT last month, "The Epstein Story? Count Me Out" is... in the latest Epstein photo dump published by @oversightdemocrats.house.gov.

He should absolutely be fired by NYT for this. Major conflict of interest that he didn't disclose.

one reason i adore women's sports is because large portions of every fanbase aren't fooled by bullshit. most fans in men's sports accept pro-owner/anti-labor arguments, but nwsl and wnba fans right now are both saying 'nope we see what you're trying to do, just pay players what they're worth k thx.'

At a time when a lot of players' unions are weak or lacking direction, the NWSLPA stands out for being particularly strong and principled. A really great organization at the moment, which is critical for both the players and the league.

at this point, no matter the resolution, berman & nwsl owners have tarnished the league. we all knew this inflection point was coming and they still failed in the worst, most public way. i would pay to read the group chats of players everywhere discussing a league fighting a star’s $1m/yr contract.
"We expect the contract... and the free agency to be respected."

at this point trin should just go to europe. the message will be that she got too big for the league and they weren't committed enough to grow with her. good luck convincing broadcast partners to give you more money when they know your most marketable stars can easily outgrow the league.
