Some Guy. Some kind of neurodivergent. Somewhat qualified to philosophise. Named after a gangster accountant for reasons thast don't matter. Pronouns he/him. Nouns genius/fool. Adjectives harmless/frustrating.
Strategies of brinksmanship don't work by baiting you to make bad choices. They work by offering you only bad choices and blaming you no matter what you choose

They rely on 'doing nothing' being a bad choice, so if you think you know the right response you need to explain how it differs from that
[something horrific]

"dont take the bait"

[something worse]

"dont take the bait"

[something worse]

"dont take the bait"

"dont take the bait"

Incredible that people have careers based around telling those who are struggling to keep their chin up and not react because "They're clearly [doing worse thing than the last thing] to bait an excuse to [do even worse thing]."

It's a ratchet. You're describing a ratchet. You are selling ratchets.

Oh, you think it's possible to subject capitalism to critical analysis, do you? You think it might have some inherent systemic flaws?

Well design a perfect communist utopia and show me where it already exists! Check. Mate.

We should create equality by objectifying men, not by ending the objectification of women. We need sluts of all genders for the good of all humankind.

Listen to @bloodwork.show

I don't have a gun. My time as a shooting journalist has left me with the impression that guns are boring and stupid. I understand that some people have guns for well-thought-out reasons.

Made the mistake of pushing back extremely gently on some shitlib rhetoric (Kamala would *never*!!!) and dear God those fuckers argue exactly like right wing trolls except the part of them that actually believes what they're saying is about twice the size.

The extremly simple correct takes on the US and Venezuela:

1/ Maduro is not a good guy. Fuck that guy.
2/ Donald Trump is not a good guy. Fuck that guy.
3/ The US taking Maduro hostage is bad, not because Maduro is good, but because Donald Trump is worse.

There's a weird thing where:

1/ Defending trans people seems to be a fad in a very small echo-chamber

and

2/ Trans people are under attack in terms of large scale discourse that most people see

So like, even if it seems bandwagoning and shallow, trans rights are human rights. They just are.

Some posts are like: "let me explain what complex and contested terms mean", and then they just pull definitions completely out of their ass. Lots of very confident word-understanders in the world.

I really enjoyed Fables right up until the point where, seemingly out of the blue, it was like: btw, Israel is great, especially when it's militarily beligerent.

Also, in happier news, G Willow Wilson's work on Poison Ivy is seminally great.
This issue was the best parts of Fables mixed with not having to think about the politics of the author of Fables
This beauty is out today! Poison Ivy eats from the Tree of Knowledge and discovers her story doesn't begin where she thinks it begins. An Arthurian romp with a twist. Art by THE Mark Buckingham. Stunning cover by @anireal.bsky.social. Pick yours up at your local comics shop.

Experimenting with returning to Bluesky. Apparently I have some followers. I should have an opinion, for science.

Erm...

If falafels are going to be the standard vegan option on every menu then restaraunts should learn how to make decent falafels.

Also I bet Keir Starmer smells of damp sawdust.

I feel like, once upon a time, I could have failed on my merits. I just wouldn't have been good enough. It's galling to live in a time when I'm being out-competed by people whose only talent is behaving like an attention-seeking cunt.

What you can do, when a piece of art is good, is say: "cool, I like that". What you don't have to do is turn it into a terrible movie, or even an alright movie. You can just enjoy it for what it is and not adapt it into any other medium. I can't emphasise this enough: things don't need to be adapted

"Leftists want good things for everyone, but did you know that includes that gross, icky minority," said every right wing stooge ever.

And yes. We want good things for everyone. Everyone. No-one gets thrown under the bus for the sake of political expediency. Everyone deserves good things.
