Yup. That was absolutely not gluten free. Trying not to be too upset, accidents happen, but it was my last safe, special occasion restaurant & I don't know if I can ever trust it again. It's also going to be fucking miserable these next few days because I literally poisoned myself. Joy. #disability

And here comes the shortness of breath and the itching.

Sigh.

This is why I don't leave the house.

Well, the restaurant poisoned me. Not sure where the breakdown happened but that was not gluten free. It's going to be a hellish next few days, I apologize in advance. On the plus side, we were at a fundraiser for St. Jude & I won a $50 GC. To the restaurant that poisoned me. #disability #celiac

I really wanted to give a shout out to #MeltingPot and their #accessibility menu on their website. They have a breakdown of every ingredient, including what allergens they may have. They literally break it down to the sprinkles on the cookies. This is how you do it right #Disability #allergens #food

Spellcheck just changed "always" to "asshat." Maybe it does pay attention at times.

This may put me in the old lady category, but when did ppl stop saying thank you? We just started ignoring things being done for us. If there's 1 thing that keeps me from wanting to put myself out there it's that ppl seem to think they're above those 2 lil words. I don't need fanfare, just a thanks.

Every time I see a post for a boycott/blackout etc I ask what has been put in place to support those who participate. Who is providing food to these families, who is paying bills when these ppl get fired, who is paying for drs & meds when ppl have no insurance. Not once have I been given an answer.
Boycotts are not meant to be a litmus test. The point of a boycott is to actually make an impact, not just stop shopping somewhere to prove how much of an activist you are.

These long lists are not a recipe for a successful boycott. It’s about something sustainable with an end goal in mind.

I am so cold this winter, not even in the coldest month yet so I know I'm screwed. I'm currently under three blankets, but once the cold is in my bones I just can't warm up. Add in RA, Lupus, & fibro & the pain is excruciating. Feels like my bones are being squeezed & twisted #disability #spoonie

Today is #WorldAIDSDay. I was about to text a friend that I was thinking of him & noticed he hasn't reached out unprompted since 2023. I question myself & why I call these ppl friends. Desperation. Loneliness. They all abandoned me nearly 20yrs ago when I started getting sick & I've been alone since

In the 90s, as a theatre kid, a hs then college student, I spent every wknd at a funeral. Some wknds, multiple. I watched friends wither away. I went door to door begging for $ for research, raised $ for funeral costs. I watched a gen die around me & swore no more. The regime is erasing all of it.
This morning I had the honor of helping lay out some panels of the #AIDS Memorial Quilt on the South Lawn of the White House. Seeing all these individual lives that were lost and knowing they are just a miniscule part of that great tapestry of loss is haunting.

Each holiday season I make pizzelles. It started as a batch of traditional cookies given to a cpl ppl. It's grown into over a 1/2doz flavors, over a doz ppl, & weeks of baking. This yr we're not doing the holidays. For the 1st time in 5+yrs the local grocery has anise extract. The yr I'm not baking.

If this isn't the most cattiest cat picture. Two beds and she'd rather sleep on the floor. (To be fair, that's where the heating vent is.)

Happy #Caturday!

Since you won mayor whoever is managing your social media has stopped using alt text. Can you please start again?

I wonder if everyone would stop reporting on him, stop sharing his posts, stop interviewing him & his regime, if maybe we could have just a normal day. Nothing he says is the truth, nothing he does is legal so let's just stop feeding his narcissism. Ignore him until he's gone.
Trump claims “any document” signed by Joe Biden is “hereby terminated.”

He calls out executive orders later but obviously “any document” would be much broader and include legislation.

(He can’t legally do that but, as always, we get to watch how far he can push this without repercussions)

Amazon employees in over 30 countries are walking off the job today as part of a global protest called “Make Amazon Pay”.

They’re demanding the company honour workers rights to unionize, improve environmental sustainability and raise wages.

This is the biggest disruption in the company’s history.

Chronic pain doesn’t just disappear overnight…

Getting to sleep is painful.
Waking up is painful.
And being asleep is painful… dreaming about the pain you wake up in… never actually getting restful sleep as a result.

Ppl who celebrate holidays & can afford to buy gifts are going to shop this wknd. Ppl who can't, aren't. Everyone is struggling. That doesn't mean you get to judge. You don't know their story & it's not your business. Let ppl be happy when they can. And don't get me started on accessibility either.
As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

And let us know if you need help! We're not the Butterball Hotline, but our team does have some helpful turkeys. 🖤🖤🖤
In order to create a wishlist, you'll need to create an account on our website.

There are a few ways to do this, but the fastest is probably clicking the little heart next to any listing you see - our site will direct you to a sign up page and then you can head right back to shopping!

SO & kids are heading to the in-laws to eat some ham w/the grandparents. I'm staying home. However, at 2 different points my son & then his gf pulled me to the side to show me the rings they've picked out for each other, completely unknown to the other. I'm going to have a DIL soon. I'm so tickled.

To be sure, there can be (and are!) bad actors in bad faith using A.I. for bad, impure purposes. No disagreement there. But your anti-A.I. stance does not justify or excuse the decision to deliberately misuse something that is intended to help disabled people. Abusing alt text will have real harm.
Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images.

The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.

AIDS decimated the #LGBT community. In the 80s, I stopped counting the number of people I knew who died horrible deaths.

Since 1988, December 1st has been World AIDS Day, when people mourn those who died. Trump has cancelled it. He's trying to erase LGBT people!
