"Political views" doing a lot of heavy euphemism these days.

Everyone has a list of so-called "red flags" when they're dating. And for some, especially younger Americans, different political views is a relationship deal breaker.

2001 Country... Not a great year. Big, past-their-prime neo-trads (George Strait, Garth Brooks) records just OK🫤...Dwight Yoakam soundtracked a movie he directed😬. Re-listening didn't improve any of those for me much. These 4 hold up better than the rest on my list:

The “fun” thing about the kennedy center freakout is that conservatives have been carving out “creative” exceptions to anti discrimination laws so they can be bigots to ordinary people just trying to make a purchase, but if actual artists don’t want to perform for the god king they must be punished

Really looking forward to seeing (hearing) what Steven does with this.
Happy to announce a new project for 2026: Catalog Club. It's like a book club but with albums. Every month, I'll pick an artist and over 4 weeks talk about 4 of their albums. It starts Jan 6. Read here to learn more and find out the artists for Jan and Feb

Seems like this is mostly expectation driven. Might have been minimalized with better communication from DC about the change.
The current big drama in the increasingly stupid western comic book world: DC released cult classic title Warlord on a (more expensive) paperstock that matches original newsprint, giving a more accurate coloring. Collectors are review bombing in outrage because they think glossy = more expensive.

Top 5 2025 lists I haven't made:

1. Best movies I saw in 2025
2. Favorite books I read in 2025
3. Top albums of 2025
...I didn't finish this list either😊

The audacious irony of the visual conceit ending Al Feldstein & Wally Wood's "Fall Guy" is delightfully improbable. Danny's forgotten the fake name he needs to access the loot. As he falls to his death, he smashes some letters in the neon sign. The remaining letters spell out the forgotten name.

Going to admit a bias here: I kind of just lose big chunk of whatever existing interest I have in an artist once they become a billionaire.

One of the highlights of this holiday season for me has been how much my 70-something in-laws enjoyed watching Bad Santa for the first time.
