“Remember this: Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction.”
This is infuriating every time I think about it. Not sure how to get out from under it without breaking things.
As @prisonculture.bsky.social often says, two thirds of people in this country did not vote for this scumbag and his fascist goon squad, and yet Very Serious People are always telling us that everyone must only appeal to and placate the third who did.

For just a moment, I thought the people had been pushed out a window, because that’s how we will know Putin has reached the last item on his checklist.

Seeing a bunch of normal ass midwestern moms and dads marching in -20 degrees knowing they might be tear gassed or worse really drives home what a cowardly lot of people the pundit class is

The mindless criminal cruelty is the point. Shame, morality, decency, the rule of law are all meaningless to these people. Each has been told, you can get away with it now, no one will judge you.

And the longer each is able to carry out this cruelty, the harder it is to stop.
In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.

It isn’t healthy to be this angry all the time. But it also isn’t healthy if this doesn’t make you angry.

Repeated in cubicles all across America.
I am a 60-something mother of three college-educated, Sunday School-raised children. On Monday I will start a new “cubicle job” **just to have health insurance.**

I lost my affordable insurance entirely because of JD Vance’s political party.

The Vice President can fuck alllll the way off.
JD Vance: "To our fellow Americans we say, you're never gonna find great meaning in a cubicle or in front of a computer screen. But you will find great meaning if you dedicate yourself to the creation and sustenance of human life."

Yes.

This should surprise no one, the criminals announced their intentions repeatedly over the summer of 2024 in advance of the elections. And the fuxking simpleton American electorate put them in power anyway.
The Trump Administration is no longer hiding their Nazi inspiration, with Noem adopting a slogan coined by convicted Nazi war criminal Kurt Daluebe, who ordered the murder of every male in Lidice in retaliation for the death of a single SS officer.

Is this Trump's plan for American cities?

This is how we enable skills and learning to travel into a future that includes AI. And this is a way to frame learning delivery.

That it’s rooted in philosophy instruction is paramount. Without our humanity to frame and focus how to understand and use new tools, the tools simply own us.
Last term I tried an experiment: I walked into my Tech and Design Ethics class, admitted that I had *no idea* what to do about ChatGPT - so I would let them figure it out.

As in: their first project was to decide and write the ChatGPT policy for the class.

Here's what happened:

Why I turned that shyte off when the US invaded Iraq for the second time.
And tonight all the main news broadcasts in america will not even mention that their president is unhinged, demented and clearly unfit to lead anything at all. They are so afraid of the truth.

All in on the Seahawks, but this would be simply marvelous.
Since I've always pulled for the underdog, I hope that Jarrett Stidham shocks the world and the Broncos make it to the Superbowl.

People, if I have to pull up the various beef dishes at the several Indian and Pakistani restaurants I order from, will you people STFU?

Jfc I live in Alberta. If you have a problem with the menus, call the restaurants.

Grateful to see the numbers backing up what’s been in place since the icicles first showed up.

Functioning as designed.
Pew Research Institute (2023):

• Red State Texas has about 2.1 million undocumented immigrants

• Red State Florida has 1.6 M undocumented immigrants

• Blue State Minnesota has 130,000.

And yet only Minnesota is being occupied by masked thugs over "immigration."

It's *not* about immigration.

Vintage mindfuck!
Spending the morning restringing my guitars and the 8yo asks if I have any vintage guitars.

I do not. But then I thought about my 1996 Strat and realized that it is 30yo and that if in 1996 I had a 30yo Strat, a 1966, that would be considered vintage.

Anyway, time is, as always, a mindfuck.

We fight back or we die under the boots of the fascists. There is no choice in this fate, the only choices that remain are how and when we die, or how and when we fight back.

Proper remembrance of those that have gone ahead
Took a long lunch today in honour of my best friend; he should have been turning 42 today. I had lasagna, garlic toast, fries, tea, and two massive warm brownies with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate sauce.

Miss you forever, brother. You'd be proud of me.

Goals and aspirations
Reading internal documents from a segregationist group as I drink coffee, listen to Johnny Cash's American Recordings and watch the snow fall outside my home office, with the NFL playoffs coming up later.

I think I have achieved my peak form.
