Rhizophily is the love of regenerative and biodiverse networks exchanging life force naturally. It starts at the rhizomatic cellular interface—from which all terrestrial fertility, sustenance, and wellness ultimately derives in this biosphere.
This. I’ve been saying and warning similarly.
It's often overlooked, but one of the benefits of having a non-partisan Supreme Court that doesn't rule based on partisan interests is to establish guardrails that also help keep our republic together. A partisan SCOTUS, like today's, promotes the disuniting of America.

Watch this and weep for the American we once knew and loved. Pulling innocent, unarmed US citizens out of their daily lives to fill meaningless quotas is horrifying. It’s exactly what our parents fought against in WW2. Everyone who voted for this: bear witness. We must repudiate this at all levels.
US Citizen, with a valid drivers license, is traumatized by ICE at a checkpoint if FL.

Her crime, per ICE — she didn’t roll down her window far enough.

All of this…because they couldn’t be bothered to check her ID.

What are we doing? Why are these gestapo tactics being allowed to continue?

👇👇👇 Post-WW2 order dissembling in real time. Bulwarks of democracy and basic freedoms of speech, assembly, religion, etc at risk if the West concedes to Russia’s aggression.
1) Start the worst European war since 1945 and commit every imaginable war crime
2) Decide how you want to be rewarded for your aggression
3) Leak the list of your desiderata to the US press
4) Wait for the US president to enforce your wish list on your victim.

Bad that GenAI bots push false information in 1 out of 3 queries. (!) Worse that meeting GenAI’s energy and cooling water needs will be ecologically disastrous, while also ripping off the intellectual property of countless artists, musicians & scholars, endangering their work. How is this OK people?

Confirms my belief that willful denial (and its concomitant, feigned ignorance) is a maladaptive trait for our genome once harnessed at the societal level. Once our politics and economics are untethered to biological reality, it should be no surprise when the biosphere (and AI) deems us irrelevant.
For thirty years I worked in the post-Soviet successor states in Central Asia and observed over and over again precisely the cycle that Bill Kristol describes. Corruption leads to authoritarianism, directly. The path is utterly predictable.

A consistent through-line to supporting Russia’s longtime objective of breaking up the NATO alliance can explain a lot of this.
America's network of democratic alliances was a jewel. Never before had a great power relied on cultivating voluntary relationships, leading to the richest, most powerful country in history, and benefitting the world relative to the alternative.

Then America decided to throw it away. And for what?

Along with Trump literally destroying the WH and trying to directly pocket $230M of taxpayer money, I’m surprised this weird FORTY BILLION to Argentina isn’t a bigger story.
Oh look, Trump's $40 billion bailout just got a lot more expensive to finance.

Argentina's peso has fallen to an all-time low against the US dollar.

It has now collapsed 99.8% since 2009.

Only someone with 6 bankruptcies would look at that and say, “I’ll take 40 billion dollars worth!”

The last 3 years have been the hottest in 125,000 years.

CO2 levels are their highest in about 12 MILLION years.

Scientists predict 4C+ this century & BILLIONS of deaths.

Not interested in this? Then you should consider a career in centrist politics & the mainstream media.

Sounds like Republicans ought to get all the Republicans who form the Republican majorities in the Republican-led House and the Republican-led Senate together to pass the budget that Republicans wrote with the Republican White House and that Republicans now insist absolutely must be passed.

How the longest-standing democracy of 250 years was dismantled systematically in less than 250 days — from within its supposedly independent justice system (and a complicit Supreme Court). The Founders clearly foresaw the risks. The several States must now resist federal overreach systematically.

RIP and heartfelt thanks to Jane Goodall. She gave an inspiring presentation at my junior high school in CT in the late-1970’s. She started her presentation with a resounding, howling greeting call of a silverback gorilla. She spoke to the critical need to always protect large, biodiverse habitats.

More scenes from #WarRavagedPortland yesterday. Small dogs especially burdensome.

Taken just a few minutes ago outside the ICE facility in Portland that Trump claims is under siege. My message to Donald Trump is this: we don’t need you here. Stay the hell out of our city.

Evidently I missed the war in Portland last week as I was enjoying evening Spanish tapas and sipping affogatos while a djembe circle was playing in the park by the river.

Thank you Zack Beauchamp for these crucial insights on how every facet of resistance to the Administration’s plan (by ordinary citizens, on corporate boards, by elected officials, and judges) can still save democracy in America. Shocking how close we are to losing the American dream forever.
The past week has shown us something scary — the concrete and specific outlines of a durable authoritarian state in America.

Here's what this state would look like, and the precise policy levers Trump is pulling to get there from here.
