I wrote two books covering the Trump/Epstein case:
1) HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT (2020)
2) THEY KNEW (2022)

They lived up to their titles. The crimes are in the public domain. Powerful people did nothing to stop them.

Now I've got a sea cave to kayak, so go read my books and learn something. See ya!

The murder of U.S. citizen Sayfollah Musallet by Israeli settlers in the West Bank parallels what American settlers did to Indigenous people. From the time of the American Revolution, US citizens squatted on tribal land in violation of treaties & US law. This is how the US constantly expanded.🧵

"[The district court's] temporary, practical, harm-reducing preservation of the status quo was no match for this Court’s demonstrated enthusiasm for greenlighting this President’s legally dubious actions in an emergency posture" - Justice Jackson, dissenting.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court *allows* the Trump administration to implement large-scale layoffs and reorganization plans across the federal government, despite a pending legal challenge. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissents. #SCOTUS

Trump’s #AlligatorAlcatraz is on Miccosukee land. During World War II most Japanese internment camps were on reservations.

Ppl have a hard time seeing tribal sovereignty as relevant to other social issues, but it’s all connected.

My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.

A very funny thing about living in the UK is that there is a “No Kings” protest here but because the UK does in fact have a king they’ve asked protestors not to use that language. It’s “No Tyrants/No Clowns” 🤡😅

As a four-decade veteran of the daily journalism business, let me tell you: Every competent political reporter in this country knows that Trump is trying to establish a dictatorship. The industry's shame is that so few journalists will say so, and the ones who do lose their jobs.

1. Florida banned cities from lighting up bridges rainbow colors for Pride.

So the people of Jacksonville did it themselves using flashlights and gels.

They opened the drawbridge to block them.

So they marched to a different bridge.

The UK has been pretty lax on covid vaccines/boosters in my view as someone who lived in the US for the worst years of the pandemic - I still got a free Covid vaccine on the NHS *because* I was pregnant. Honestly. The stupidity in the US under this administration continues to intensify. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I cannot stress enough how much of a Def Con 1 moment this is. Federal judges fear that the President of the United States will stand down security for judges in retaliation for adverse decisions.

This is such a huge story.
This should be seen as evidence of the crisis: federal judges fear that Trump will order U.S. Marshals to stand down on securing the safety of judges whose decision they don’t like. This is just devastating.

"Perhaps that’s the first thing we need to acknowledge to ourselves: nothing will feel like enough because everything we know and love is at stake. No individual’s actions will be commensurate with the threats we face. But we can each endeavor to do the next right thing, whatever that means for us."
Grateful to everyone who shared their thoughts with me for this piece about the difference between how people imagined they would show up for a moment like this one, and how we're actually showing up—and how we can begin to close the gap between aspiration and action.

The only real question in the U.S. right now is: fascism — yes or no. About a third of the country feels like a hard “yes.” (Scroll through X-Twitter and it seems like even more.) But is there a large enough share of the other two thirds to push this autocratic nightmare back before it’s too late?

Really wild and disheartening to see people who think of themselves as ‘liberal’ defending the government for kidnapping an anti-genocide activist off the street. How people manage to not learn the most straightforward lessons from the worst episodes in history is beyond me.

Look, folks, this is it. The entire ballgame. Either we're a Republic of laws & the Constitution, or we have a dictator. This is fascism, & the impeachment vote should be happening today. Every single university president in the country should be out, in front of microphones, condemning this.
