One of the most incredible shots I've ever gotten, in Yellowstone. This coyote walked over a ridge in the blowing snow and posed for me, with a small grin on its face, the snowfalkes like stars in the background.

The desolation and beauty of life and nature is grounding, and so good for the soul.

You shake yourself awake in the cold North Atlantic water. You are not online. It is July of 1858. You are a baleen whale, and you have changed your mind. The future most not come to pass. The telegraph cable must break.

No, I don’t think it’s imagined. Besides the data that tells us people are planning on spending dramatically less than last year, it feels very different.

I suggest watching a classic Christmas movie and having your eggnog AT the forces of darkness.
Look….. I know I’m an adult so it’s different…… but I feel like this year’s Christmas is the least Christmas-y I’ve ever experienced.

Personally, because of all of the horror we’ve had this year. But also commercially, I feel like even companies are phoning it in or not even acknowledging it.

No, because the trust used to be with the American people and their historic decency and good sense when it mattered. That has been incinerated by the largest own-goal in American history.
I don't know if the reputation of the US amongst allies can ever be recovered, regardless of who is in the White House or who controls Congress.

it requires an absolutely staggering lack of self awareness for chatterton to complain that he has lost elite opportunities because he has anti-woke views.

The Olivia Nuzzi story and the Bari Weiss at CBS story are the same story, which is that the upper echelons of legacy media are absolutely rife with people who worship power and don't feel burdened by any sense of responsibility to their profession or the public.

The CBS 60 Minutes Doc confirms what we knew: The U.S. is currently using our tax dollars to imprison brown people with no criminal record in torture camps overseas.

It’s no wonder administration shill Bari Weiss pulled this off the air: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjY7...

I’ve never been a huge fan of boxing, but I must have watched Jake Paul get knocked out at least 100 times by now. Very satisfying.

apparently the shooter may have shot himself in the storage facility after killing the MIT professor. im glad they eventually figured out his identity, but i can't help but feel that if the FBI was better at their job, they could have prevented the murder of this professor. there was a 2 day period

Jones: Everything you hear from Tuberville is framed as a sports analogy. When you view everything that way, you’re always stuck in an us-versus-them, winners-versus-losers mentality. That’s how he operates.

But the fact that communities across Alabama are suffering is not a game.

A million Muslims live in New York City. We belong here, as does every other New Yorker.

This is vile Islamophobia from the Councilwoman and it has no place in our city.

A movement that demands grace and empathy whenever someone from their side suffers while offering none to the other isn’t really a movement that gives a shit about anything other than power and control
utterly incapable of grace

I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.

American cops would have shot that man who stopped the gunman, let the gunman the away with a stroll and then sued the hero for making them look bad.

Terrific investigation into Greg Bovino's roots. Lots of interesting details, including:

"Here’s how the Bovinos managed to get around the new quotas that limited how many Italians and others deemed to be “undesirables” could end up in the United States."

David Ellison reportedly told Trump he’d make “sweeping changes” to CNN if Paramount’s takeover of Warner Bros. gets approved.

Meanwhile, Jared Kushner and three Middle East countries are backing the bid — while Kushner advises Trump on foreign policy.
