Every argument I see online against public transport has someone saying that it doesn't work in rural communities and they need cars there... I don't think people realise you're not forced to use it...

So far in May I have ridden my bike to First Friday, which had a bike valet; Ridden to, and participated in, a community ride with my local cycling advocacy group, and ridden to a spring beer garden at a local park... Life is good!

Posted this to Reddit and got told it was my fault I got close passed. I tried to explain that the only reason I hugged the line was that I predicted they'd close pass, and they did! I was doing 20mph when they passed, for context.

I also rode my bike today, and made sure to hit up the traffic survey on the newest bike lanes in my town!

If you’re in the US, what’s your plan for maintaining your sanity through the incoming administration?
My favorite ideas so far: novels and poetry instead of doomscrolling, daily exercise (even 15 minutes is better than nothing), and maybe we don’t need to check the news more than 1x/day

Bike more drive less meeting tomorrow. My township made the mistake of advertising it during snow, and people were mad the sidewalk hadn't been cleared by the municipality which is *checks notes* homeowners' responsibility.

My wife bought me this "cup" from a local potter for Christmas and I'm obsessed. She commented that none of their cups were small enough for espresso, and they started bringing out glaze tests that were never meant to be sold. My wife immediately noticed this one, and it's perfect for espresso.

My town is slowly becoming more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists, and I'm massively here for it. My wife and I bought bikes after living here for 4 years (I never owned a car before moving to the states in 2019 and missed my bike). We were cycling every day in summer and autumn.

But the flexposts are far apart, routinely destroyed & not replaced.
So this is *actually* an invitation to drivers to use the bikelane as a loading zone, pushing people on bikes into the general traffic lanes, where they’re more likely to be hit by drivers.
