No clear plans for democratic elections, nation building or regime change have been presented.

There’s a funny Politico story showing that the latest polling on AI shows 80-20 in favor of heavy regulations, an absolute slam dunk platform, but Dems are worried about not winning back mask-off tech CEO donors

"We're losing because there are always moments when we lose" is a lesson that Ta-Nahisi Coates understands intuitively, and that Ezra Klein has never had to, and that difference speaks volumes about American history.
of all the things about ta-nehisi coates’s philosophy i wish people would internalize the main one is: sometimes you lose

Listening to this, it also feels like more evidence of how far some white people will go to defend white innocence, will invent space for themselves outside history. And when someone they say they respect patiently walks them through this, for all their valorization of “listening,” they won’t.
This was revealing. Worth reading. The basic demand is that Coates spend less time thinking/writing his true feelings and more time playing political strategist. Klein asks him over and over him to do Dem strategy; he says no, over and over. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/28/o...

Thanks for sharing this document, @rweingarten.bsky.social.

I read it, and I believe it's inexcusably inadequate and will not prepare teachers or schools to confront the very real dangers of the "A.i." products pushed by your partners, including OpenAI.

A few thoughts for your consideration...

Incredible words.

This quote from the Atlantic is right & true! One odd thing is how these points, which have been obvious for several years to anyone who spent five minutes considering how LLMs work & what education is, are finally coalescing into the standard take from the center of middlebrow opinion—why only now?
“Based on the available evidence, the skills that future graduates will most need in the AI era—creative thinking, the capacity to learn new things, flexible modes of analysis—are precisely those that are likely to be eroded by inserting AI into the educational process.”

Yup.
It’s infuriating to me that I need to evaluate media to determine whether it’s AI generated now. The great “time saver” technology wastes incalculable time and energy for people who want to retain their grasp on reality

Biden thought he could “heal the soul of the nation” and bring us all together. As optimistic as that idea was, it was wrong.

We won’t move forward by unifying. We’ll move forward by trying the corrupt fascists and showing the law *will* be enforced.

I want to read pieces, many of them, explaining to everyone why they should divest from AI like today (emotionally, professionally, financially). Lots more.
