I was in Portland this summer. The only thing I worried about was a coyote wandering nonchalantly in front of my hotel at 2:00am and frankly, it was where it should have been and my East coast ass was out when it should not have been. This is the violence provoking speech that they claim to oppose.

I’ve never felt the need to buy a dictionary before, but pay attention advertisers. This kinda sass definitely is the way to get me to buy things I don’t need. 😆

Got my Project for Awesome stuff today and it was the perfect reminder for me to be hopeful. It was my honor to be part of something so amazing for the first time! Looking forward to next year!
A sticker of a raccoon like animal holding a croissant, a Project For Awesome metal rectangle, and a postcard of John Green dressed up as Silly Ray Cyrus with some information about Project for Awesome and some nonsense about Peeps Pepsi. Flippin awesome blue t-shirt with a picture of the Earth as the candy on a ring pop and a heart and computer mouse orbiting it among a star filled background. Displayed on a middle aged goofball.

They are 100% allowed to do that.

Found what I think are some Chicken of the Woods on a walk near my house. Pretty cool!

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.

Nature is the only thing that distracts me from a world on fire sometimes. There’s a wonderful urban forest near me that I wander when I can. Cool little things I found this time.
Bright green caterpillar crawling on a gray/brown log. Tiny mushrooms growing on the side of a rotting stump.

These are very easy things to say:
I am against gun violence, no matter who is the victim or perpetrator.
I am against genocide, no matter who is the victim or the perpetrator.
I am against child abuse, no matter who is the victim or the perpetrator.
Please let's choose love over fear.

When I get anxious about events I usually go out looking for odd things to take pictures of. I’d never seen mole crickets around my house before this one in my driveway.

Instead of trying to rein in Trump’s authoritarian urges, the justices have become his accomplices.

We should demand that the people leading our nation’s energy policy have a basic understanding of how the technology they regulate works.

This is embarrassing.

I am opposed to AI products and services because of the extra power they require... IN A CLIMATE CRISIS. I am opposed to AI results - texts and illustrations - because they've been created unethically, via theft and non-consensual use of the work of others. Share if you agree.

"Numbers tend to benefit the left."

That's because the Right builds its narratives on lies; and lies are disproven with facts.

Vaccines save lives.
Tariffs are taxes on consumers.
America was NOT founded as a Christian nation.
Election results reflect the votes cast.
Jan 6 was a failed coup. Etc.

CNN: When the jobs report comes out, are you going to believe the numbers?

REP. RANDY FINE: Um, I'm going to look at the numbers. Look, the people who put these numbers together are human & fallible and make mistakes

C: It wasn't that they make mistakes

F: Numbers always tend to benefit the left

About this Florida vaccine story:

When they were little - 1 yr and 3 1/2 - my two older boys, who’d had all their shots, got whooping cough.

We asked their pediatrician what would’ve happened if they hadn’t been vaccinated.

“Oh, they’d have died.”

You got a brand new We’re Here yesterday!

Hank answered the question we’ve all been asking: whose idea was it for the Focus Friend beans to have butt cracks?

Read it: werehere.beehiiv.com
early draft art of the Focus Friend app: different versions of possible bean styles and a pink, blue, and purple office with shelves on the walls.

I’m not a fun-guy person. But this thing looked so cool I had to take a picture. Found on a walk in a local forest.
Pale white wrinkled mushroom that looks similar to a coral formation. Human finger in picture for scale.
