Trump didn’t run in ‘24 to “dismantle the deep state” or overturn the Civil Rights Act or any of that alt-right fantasies. He ran because if he wasn’t president he was likely going to jail. This entire administration is just him winging it and accepting bribes.
The thing that's always frustrated the right wing ideologues who've glommed onto Trump is that he doesn't have the attention span to actually be a committed ideological warrior. He can scream all the right culture war shit, but it's just WWE pugilistic showmanship. He basically has no belief system.

364 days of the year I have nothing nice to say about them, but I’ll tip my hat to the four Rs (Massie, Boebert, MTG, Mace) that signed the discharge petition. It was the right thing (as human beings) but not the easy thing (as Republicans).
