My mother has a gold medal from the Radcliffe Guild of Nursing which I couldn't see in the list ( thought I had but it was midwifery). Same principle, but you had to reach a certain minimum grade so wasn't awarded every year.

With apologies for the truly appalling disclaimer at the top of the page, explainer here: www.hhs.gov/answers/medi...

It's a little complex as it varies state by state.

The tiny numbers written on the lefthand ones might be a giveaway, also the label styles (but you could have swapped those). Absolutely stunning!

From their helpline taking my desperate phone calls, to making direct grants to mum so she has equipment she needs without delay. Policymaking - developing and agreeing policies, and then implementing them - is difficult, but plenty of people (increasingly) confuse it with "coming up with ideas for policies" which is, indeed, very easy. Same philosophy that says that announcing the thing is the same as doing the thing
t0nyyates.bsky.social
Someone who thinks 'policymaking is generally not very complicated' either does not know what they are talking about or has very strong ideological leanings that help disappear the trade-offs that worry the rest of us.

Good thing he has a high quality team of thoughtful people with a firm grasp of the issues and how complex governing is

So far as I can tell, to-date she is the only HSJ contributor to be made Archbishop of Canterbury.

there's a "fact" about the new Archbishop of Canterbury on her Wikipedia page that'll be an interesting test of which media organisations do their jobs...

"...we can and will use the privilege of our leadership to call out injustice, to celebrate connection and to help make things safer and fairer.”

Absolutely stonking statement from ADASS.

Good to hear @sharonbrennan.bsky.social @nationalvoices.bsky.social championing the crucial role that VCSE’s will play in realising the shift to community and brilliantly making the point that the 10YP care plan target must not result in tokenistic recording of patient wishes. #LabourConference2025

Smelly to cook and bony to eat if you don't know your way round them (I love them too but those two factors put off the uninitiated).

Together with a set of ridiculously qualified colleagues, under the auspices of the BMJ, have contributed to this assessment of the Government's 10 Year Plan for the NHS. We conclude that we need greater clarity on the how and fewer priorities. www.bmj.com/content/390/...

The Boring Fund will be open for applications in November.

If your small UK charity needs (up to) £200 to cover something boring like insurance or web hosting, take a look.

They welcome donations too.
The Boring Fund - Open Collective
We support small non-profit organisations (UK) by only funding the really boring (but essential) stuff like insurance, accountancy or admin

Not to interfere in private grief but maybe Liverpool St - Bond St on Elizabeth line then Bond St to Marble Arch on Central line? But I'm not sure how long the interchanges would be. Anyway suggest it as I still haven't really internalised that the E line exists so forget to factor it in. Good luck!

Meanwhile the govt does nothing to address the underlying reasons for the closures of community spaces i.e. serious underfunding of local authorities
