French President Emmanuel Macron issues a new statement defending Greenland's right to self-determination. He was one of several European leaders supporting Greenland's right to choose its own government even as US President Trump demands the country accept incorporation into the US.

Maybe the big Ottawa landlords constantly lobbying for #RTO and donating to Mayor Sutcliffe should instead use their money to deal with their rental properties very real problems. Some of those buildings need serious maintenance.

Nice little land mass you have there, Greenland.

Hi @dominiquemarshall.bsky.social ! #CUASA member here. I noticed that CUASA still does not have a presence on BlueSky, and was wondering when this will be remedied. :) There are already a bunch of #CarletonU faculty on here.

(Bonus: BlueSky is not run by a Nazi.)

Groundhog day on campus. The Carleton students refer to them as "Chonkers". You can see why. What an absolute unit.

Absolutely right.

AI might be able to summarize (poorly) what we currently know, but a major goal of historical research is to find the hidden surprises out there.

Let me illustrate …
Not a historian but like to research. The AI might summarize what I'm looking for, but it doesn't find what I'm *not* looking for. The book on the shelf next to the one I wanted. The insight in chapter 6 based on the quote I needed from chapter 4.

Hey @octranspo.com @lauradudas.bsky.social We need actual sidewalk clearing at Place d'Orléans station (in the part still owned by contractor). The path is not yet handed over to you but your riders must use it to access the station. No salt either.

That said, it looks like the Bus cancellation spree is a little more widespread.

The LRT keeps having major problems and @octranspo.com has fewer buses yet @mark-carney.bsky.social thinks Ottawa is ready for even more RTO? Logistics alone should tell him & Mark Sutcliffe that this is a huge mistake.

(Leaving aside that there were good reasons why WFH in #Ottawa predates COVID.)

In Sutcliffe & Carney’s push for RTO to “save” downtown, can someone please explain why small businesses elsewhere in #Ottawa benefiting from
WFH don’t matter? Why is Carney only worried about big downtown landlords?

Or is this magical thinking where somehow more money overall will be spent?
Would potential full return to office for public servants change Ottawa's satellite communities?
The pandemic brought small town growth to a boiling point in towns. Would a rumoured return to office bring that boom crashing down?

Begging #OttCity to at the very least start cross posting to Bluesky if not end X altogether. It’s unacceptable that our gov, our council, our agencies and imp social services only use some forms of communication, cutting off ppl from important info.
At this point, if there's any official Canadian government social accounts on X, at any level - federal, provincial, municipal - they need to seriously consider why they remain on a platform whose owner bankrolls a government that is a national security threat to Canada.
