Its an increbly trite observation that people come from all over and spend thousands of dollars to go to a simulation of a dense, walkable urban environment with incredible public transportation.

But I will still make it.

My collection of fridge magnets from art gallery outings is coming along well. It was either this, or go down the model train route again, which is significantly more expensive/time-consuming.

I had a British lecturer who was wonderful and usually sensitive to/critical of marginalising/othering language. Completely nonchalantly, she used the phrase “throwing a paddy” in a seminar. It was in relation to a French academic, but can’t recall who. A disorientating, disheartening moment. Sin é.
"throw a paddy" how about I throw you in a pit for being no better than your ancestors

not just the aristocracy, Scots were all across the empire - disproportionately represented in multiple imperial professions. the general Scottish position today about the empire, however, is that a big boy did it and ran away
The Scottish aristocracy was a more active/enthusiastic participant in the empire

My last Sunday in Paris for a while; hopefully not for too long.

Visit The Green Linnet if you’re ever in town!
