Shame on you @ABC. Trump illegally changed the name. He didn’t have the authority to change the name. So it’s not real. Just like the Department of War isn’t real. Fuck you ABC for being such cowards.

The reason that SpaceX is going public and announcing nonsense about data centers in space:

1. The outside client launch manifest is flat and becoming more competitive
2. The total TAM for starlink was never going to justify the valuation
3. Growth for commerical/residential Starlink is shrinking

Most underrated Biden admin mistake was bailing out Silicon Valley Bank.

SVB bet big on low interest rates and lost. Rich tech VCs who put too many eggs in that basket generated a bank run, then called for govt money.

Got their bailout, helped elect Trump, and now reaping rewards from corruption.
David Sacks, presumably, on the push by some in the tech and VC world to fund a primary challenge to Congressman Khanna.

Calling out a fascist for taking a hypocritical position is easy. It's also a complete waste of time. Fascist rhetoric is aesthetics— pathos, never logos.

You'll never get anywhere pointing out a fascist's hypocrisy. Fascism is not to be debated, it's to be smashed. Get comfortable using power.

Despite Musk's hype, Tesla can't do paid driverless rides in Austin, which sets up his fans for a huge disappointment.

Musk lies again by promising "driverless rides" in Austin by "year end".

Tesla's 8 Robotaxi Crashes in Austin Point to No Paid Driverless Rides
Aside from the California DMV ruling that FSD is only a Level 2 ADAS, Tesla's Austin robotaxi crash reports to NHTSA should raise eyebrows at the Texas DMV.

Professional societies keep beclowning themselves buying into a lie about what an LLM "summary" is. They are inherently counterfeit: not an epistemic product of the ideas in the source, but summary-shaped text linguistically based on *other* works (in the training corpus) that use related language.
This is one of the reasons I remain horrified by seeing @historians.org suggest "ways to use gAI" that included this:

This, goddamn it! You do not debate people who question your right to exist or question the rights of other people to exist. You fight them and keep fighting them and never stop fighting them. Being moderate in the face of far right extremism is nothing but capitulation and appeasement.
Why decline all these chances to defend feminism? Because to participate would be accepting the premise that our rights and humanity are up for debate in the first place.

Once you’ve conceded that it’s reasonable to ask whether women’s equality was a mistake, you’ve already lost.

Musk's stated net worth is entirely a house of cards, gtfoh
As his businesses continue to appreciate in value, it's not hard to see how Musk will become the world's first trillionaire in the next year or two.

And he may not even need his trillion dollar Tesla pay package to vest to get there:

As a very online person for the past decade, there’s one thing I can assuredly say I have never seen.

A Bill Clinton defender or apologist.

The Democrats know his history and no one (I have seen) tries to whitewash. To the contrary, I see nothing but calls to expose any wrongdoing.

Technologies generally persist until something better comes along to replace it, and unfortunately for the AI bubble and its hapless investors, AI has already been replaced with the significantly better technology of “not using AI”.
“Love it or hate it it’s here to stay” is a crazy thing to keep saying about a technology. If people don’t like using something it doesn’t have to stay we’re not talking about bad weather here

The single most successful investment andreessen ever made was buying Trump in 24. His fund performance would be dreadful without trump making crypto legal. Truly one of the world-class scumbags among a forest of scumbags in tech
Marc Andreessen will be like, “we just need to build housing,” and then not build any housing, but fund an army of fake TikTok accounts

Excellent summary by the leading analyst of Tesla. Like Trump, musk has gotten away with criminal activity over and over again by supine regulators overwhelmed by high priced Tesla lawyers. Now, finally finally finally, there might be some accountability.
The CA DMV won their lawsuit vs Tesla for FSD fraud & will suspend Tesla's sales & output in CA for 30 days.

The profit impact (<$1B) is nothing. The legal precedent is huge: FSD is not "self-driving" & Tesla lies.

This bolsters 2 class actions against $TSLA FSD fraud & more.

One important thing to keep in mind: live below your means whenever you can. Saving money brings you freedom. You can only choose your own path if you have options, and those options come from having savings. Wealth inequality is getting worse, and almost everyone will suffer from it. Save money.
The only surefire way to stop oligarchs buying up the things we love is to drop those things the moment oligarchs buy them & that requires changing habits and massive self-discipline.
It means going to alternatives that might not be quite as good or convenient.
It’s really hard. But there it is.
