It’s been a good working week. It ended by a catchup in person with the awesome, inspiring and kind @maryjacob.bsky.social ❤️. It was extra nice to explore Winterbourne Botanic Garden whilst talking about our shared passion for teaching in HE.
Danielle (left) and Mary (right). Mary has epic long hair that is white, purple and blue. She is wearing a blue top. Danielle has comic effect green glasses and a Zuri African dress that has a pattern that looks like Covid.

Debunking Learning Styles is something we have to do each cohort of new educators (and students too). This notes something we ought to discuss more - the damage of the labelling.

A lot of students come in with this (for whatever reason) from school.

Students often detest group work but it can be fruitful with some thoughtful scaffolding. wp.me/peKPOF-aW #AcademicSky #EduSky
Co-create a group contract. To foster a culture of respect and inclusion, have students co-develop a group contract that establishes rules and guidelines for communication and participation. This formalises the expectations and outlines how everyone will work together to complete the task.
