2025 Disc Golf Update on my goals halfway through the year:

1) I'm now rated 930 with a goal of maintaining this above 930. I have some lousy rounds from last fall that I will hopefully be able to replace with better ratings.

2) I haven't played many rated rounds, planning on a fall circuit

We're at the end of May, and I have an update on my disc golf course goal. I currently stand at 18, with a goal of 52 unique courses. Ive played in 3 different states (IN, IL, FL) with 6 new courses played.

I'm pacing well, but need to be somewhere around 35 by the time school starts to keep pace.

My 400-level course had their final yesterday. I'm going to miss them. They were a very intellectually curious group and I think they rose to the challenge of a discussion based course. I'm hoping to build on the course next semester. I'm proud of this course, and more importantly the students!

I explained the difference between emo and metal to @fcgiorda.bsky.social's daughter by comparing Fallout Boy's "Thanks for the Memories" and Judas Priests' "Painkiller". I hope I got it right @ckaufman.bsky.social.

*Of course* advance information on US combat operations is classified. Pretending otherwise is an insult to our troops, who all know this.

Disc Golf course update! I am up to 12 courses (4 new courses). If I play 1 course per week that puts me at the equivalent week starting March 17.

I have played 4 new courses this year, so it's a 25% new course ratio (goal is 30%).

My pacing is pretty good as long as I play a lot this summer.

Next time I teach this 400 level class on the analysis of political behavior, I want to bring in a scholar or two to have them discuss the articles with us, and see how scholars discuss their work and how our discussions are real ones among scholars.

Trade deficit. I have bought food from say, Chilis. They have never bought food from me.

There is a trade deficit with Chilis. I’m still doing fine.

The trade deficit argument SOUNDS compelling, but it’s a straw man with no relevancy

i may be unserious, hysterical and woke, but my strategy of “taking trump seriously no matter how insane he sounds” has paid more analytical dividends than the alternatives
Think part of the problem with describing Trump seriously is that no one actually seems to actually ever take his entire ideological outlook seriously, so absurdist means tend be be more effective at evoking political affect

This season of Top Chef missed out on the ultimate way to troll Maple Leafs fans. They really should have brought on Phil Kessel to judge a hot dog quick fire challenge and let him judge them in front of the Stanley Cup.

PWHL representation is the correct choice to be clear, and I'm here for it

This afternoon I played Milligan Park in Crawfordsville, IN (-1 but I found something to fix in my game).

This is the 9th course I've played this year. I'm on a good pace so far. I always think if I'm at about 20 courses by Memorial Day, that's exactly where I need to be to get to 50.

Severance is an incredibly well written TV show. The season 2 finale, was one of the best episodes of TV I've seen this year so far, and why I love science fiction in TV format.
