Highland cattle are famous for their ability to "disco nap". Normally these brief, efficient sleeps will last between three and twenty minutes, deploying a variety of objects as pillows, including moorland boulders, cars or any particularly large dog or sheep who happens to be nearby.

Yeah fair enough, your take makes sense if the upshot tends to be dissing the approach. Sometimes I think as vegans we can alienate / harm the cause a bit by demanding a “purist or nothing” approach 🤷🏼‍♀️ - for years I was vegetarian because I thought I couldn’t give up cheese. I was wrong!

At the end of the day, don’t we all just want to read books in a cottage during a pouring rain in front of a crackling fire whilst enjoying a plate of emotional support cinnamon rolls?

Is the gist of these “experiment” reports on veganism usually positive though? If it helps encourage others to be vegan for more than 30 days, or at least reduce their consumption of animal products, that’s still probably a net positive? 🤷🏼‍♀️ any reduction in animal suffering helps …

I was eager to spot a tree kangaroo in the wild when in the Daintree earlier this year, but I think they are shy (or perhaps wisely avoiding humans!) I did however get to see many cassowaries and their babies walking through the forest which was an absolute delight.

6th Oct 1972 - During sessions at RCA Studios New York, David Bowie recorded 'The Jean Genie', which became the lead single from his Aladdin Sane album. The line "He's so simple minded, he can't drive his module" would later give the Scottish band Simple Minds their name. #BowieForever

A photo I took of a pheasant doing the thing that pheasants always seem to forget they can do.

I absolutely refuse to believe that the pheasant who regularly visits my mum and dad’s garden is real and has not in fact been crocheted.
My mum and dad's local pheasant, which is real, but looks like the product of the gathering of a talented craft club Another look at my mum and dad's local pheasant My mum and dad's local pheasant showing his more lighthearted side as he jokes about how much he looks like he's been felted

Noisy miner bird. 🐦📸🌳 Photo taken from the back deck. 🌼🏵🌻

A Noisy Miner bird, with its characteristic grey and mottled black feathers and a distinctive bright yellow patch of skin behind its eye, is perched centrally on a dark brown thin branch. The bird is facing slightly toward the camera, making direct eye contact. It has a short, slightly down-curved yellow bill and dark eyes. The bird is surrounded by soft, muted greenery and large, pale yellow-green leaves and flower clusters, possibly of a Poinsettia plant in an early stage of bloom. The background is softly blurred with warm, neutral brown and tan tones, giving the image a shallow depth of field and focusing all attention on the bird.
