I mean honestly, it *does* explain how elite backlash against MeToo was about as intense as the reaction to 9/11.
My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

I learned too late that love needs no permission,
only time which neither of us had;
The words I swore have blurred to salt,
yet still I keep what I half-remember making,
to find you at the edge of things,
to end what shouldn't have begun.

My #Signals fanart for the third anniversary!

Train is already halfway full when I got on. I'm one stop from the end of the line and running damn late.

every major academic discipline should have a probably not monthly but like quarterly publication that writes directly and accessibly to a interested and educated but non-academic audience about the most substantively relevant empirical findings in the discipline the past several months.

In an age where Americans sell their souls for the thinnest of reasons, justice called for the thickest of men.
Pritzker: What's at stake here is free speech. It's our constitution and our way of life. Do we really want the president intimidating people, organizations to get others fired? People ought to be standing up and speaking out.

I'm actually a little shocked how quickly the de minimus ban impacted me. I didn't think of myself as a frequent online shopper outside of Amazon stuff.

A friend who's into cologne was telling me about Zoologist and it sounded really cool so I bought some samplers...

Well they're in Toronto

Apropos nothing, I was thinking about those responsible for destroying USAID and the lives to be lost with it.

I assessed there was no retribution mankind could devise that would equalize it, and it might be evil to try.

The need for a theological concept of hell became clear in that moment.

Unfortunately, though Alien Earth is fun TV - I think it's a bad entry into the Alien saga

A lot like Romulus really, good fun but has little to chew on

I still think deep decarbonization scenarios have a hole that's vaguely shaped like nuclear power but the size of that hole is shrinking and I'm not sure the nuclear industry will be able to fill it before something else does

Nostalgia bit me so I'm going through some Command and Conquer games in chronological order.

And I love that they remastered Tiberium Dawn but man. A remake (with updated gameplay) would have be so cool.

Alas. Going to wrap up the GDI campaign and head on over to Red Alert

Listening to Jason Calacanis run his mouth might actually turn me into a communist.

"Oh I hated how we [business guys] donate money to Biden and then he wouldn't talk to us. Trump's great for that!" I'm going to scream

At this point I'm pretty convinced we should do some kind of ranked choice/approval voting for primaries. Limiting people to just one vote in a multi-candidate field creates toxicity.
it's very funny how liking bernie sanders, AOC, and basically the average left-dem is basically the median dem voter position and yet you have weirdly strident haters on here

Wish I had a way to put a note on profiles, just for myself like:
"cool guy who posted about xyz"
"interesting nutcase"
"local character (laudatory)"

Some social media places have it and I've found it's pretty useful for tracking who's who

(If blusky has it and I'm just dumb let me know)

You may think the hatred of Jake Sullivan is irrational but he cut his teeth being Biden's guy working in the second half of the Obama administration on their Syria, Myanmar, and Libya policy so if you remember what happened from 2013-2017 in those places you'll hate him even more
