Such delicate wings!
Ant Lion that we found hanging out in @crytzerfry.bsky.social garage. These insects are mostly known for their predatory larva which build sand pits to trap passing insects, like ants. Ecology of adults is understudied and not well know.

These white eared bulbul parents are stressed out with the baby fallen out of the nest! They've been like this for more than half an hour. I can't locate their nest and the baby can only fly so high up the grills before he slips back down

Bright green food in Asia is made with pandan leaves, Pandanus amaryllifolius. It has an amazing story: Known originally from the Molucca islands of Indonesia, it is now extinct in the wild. It is a cultigen - a crop plant known only in cultivation. Thanks to @acidlich.bsky.social for the reminder.

Please enjoy this ridiculously cute butterfly, which was about the size of my pinkie fingernail. It's in the butterfly family called metalmarks (Riodinidae). Males, like these, have reduced front legs and perch using only the rear 4 (females can use all 6). Sarota acantus; Costa Rica 🐙🌿 #insects

They're called "screamers" because they 'scream' at anything new or troubling & I find that so relatable.

For some species of cichlids, home is where the mom is - literally! Female mouth-brooding cichlids incubate their eggs in their mouths. Some species continue to provide protection for juveniles after they hatch, sending out cues when danger is around for them to return to her mouth #SundayFishSketch
