Yes China is still building new coal-fired power plants, but it's using them less and less.

China's coal plants currently feed power to the grid about half of the time. By 2035, that rate will likely slip below 20%, according to BloombergNEF's forecasts.

Agrivoltaics works. It provides cheap clean energy and does not result in appreciable loss of agricultural land. Renewables enable multiple uses of land that are mutually beneficial.
Look at this terrifying scene: happy, healthy animals running through co-located wind and solar energy farm cranking out clean energy in a grassy field.

I can see now why people would rather have a field of oil pumps and pipelines instead 🤦‍♂️
