i think what makes zohran so compelling even outside of nyc is that he seems like the real deal and the establishment fucking hates him for it. he's a rallying cry for democracy in the biggest city in the country against fascists and fascist enablers. it feels existential in a way that bernie didn't

A win! Thank you to everyone who spoke out! After facing bipartisan resistance, the Senate Parliamentarian, ruled that Sen. Mike Lee’s proposal to sell off millions of acres of federal land cannot be included under reconciliation rules.

Biking in Houston this evening along the Austin St bikeway, hitting my regular stops like Under the Radar brewery. Real people rely on this bikeway and not just for cycling exercise!

A US-born citizen was walking near Chicago in January. ICE snatched him off the street, handcuffed him, threw into a van. His wallet, which contained his ID, was confiscated. He was detained for 10 hours before being released without a record of what occurred.

New York's (de)congestion pricing, which charges $9 to drive into Manhattan below 60 St, has reduced traffic, increased ridership, reduced subway crime, and is raising funds to fix the decaying transit system. Rare for a public policy to have this many benefits!
EXCLUSIVE: New York’s congestion pricing plan raised $48.6M in tolls during its first month, a strong start that exceeded expectations. The revenue figures, expected to be released publicly on Monday by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, are the latest sign that the tolling plan is working.

Want to go visit the national parks this year?
Sorry.
The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too.

EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them.

In preparation for today’s Super Bowl in New Orleans, state police forced over 100 homeless men and women onto buses under threat of arrest, dumping them in an unheated warehouse. Tents destroyed, belongings lost. Press are barred from the warehouse.

The price tag for this cruelty? $17.5 million

There’s a beautiful tree-shaded space right in front of the coffee shop I’m trying this morning, it’s a shame it’s only reserved for storing 8 private vehicles. Meanwhile everyone I’ve seen come in and out has been a walker or biker

Just learned about this app called Pointz which is like a specialized navigation app for biking. Taught me a much safer way to cross between Montrose and the Austin St bikeway here in Houston. Highly recommend! www.bikepointz.com

Rice Village would be Houston’s paradise if even half of the strip malls had additional 2-5 floors of housing, with at least one side of each street having extended sidewalks right to the curb. Roads wouldn’t even need to be fully pedestrianized (though Kelvin and Morningside absolutely should be)
