Went to see Radiohead, 28 years on from my first time. It was great. If you can, I do recommend spending your money on experiences that make you feel properly alive. You’re unlikely to regret it.

Factoid: The 147 gave Alfa Romeo its 2nd European Car of the Year title in 3yrs & while it had arguably desirable looks, it joined an ever-lengthening list of cars bested by Ford’s all-conquering Focus in an Autocar group test 25yrs ago this week.

Yes, 25yrs ago - you are that old…

It was a year ago today I was in a hospital bed choosing my birthday lunch knowing that the next morning I was literally off to Brain surgery.

So thank you all, optician that spotted something odd and of course all those NHS staff for enabling me to see another one. I remain humbled and grateful 💙

This is an unpopular position but: having worked with him a bit, I always thought Tim Davie was a highly competent leader and given his commercial instincts, was probably the best person to lead the BBC through its next charter renewal. I think this is very bad news for anyone who values the BBC.
Davie's resignation statement suggests he'd just had enough rather than feeling he had to resign over this particular issue.

(The accessory being Hella’s neat grille/driving light set & one offered on many ‘80s cars)…

Unclear to me what some of Labour’s critics on here *want*. If you oppose further tax rises, you support the status quo OR further cuts. It’s just that simple.
Labour below the Lib Dems and Greens, here we come...
A difficult call, but I would be inclined to raise basic rate by 2p or even 3p not 1p if it meant I could avoid freezing thresholds all the way to the election:

As much as I feel a Judas for saying it, the white Innocenti looks fabulously classy compared to our Series 3 with the AR logo on it.
Know Your BL Colour:
No: 67 Bianco Avorio

The one, the only, the incredibly rare Innocenti Regent 1300, with some great pics from IG a/c Jagalfa.

It also serves as a reminder that Innocenti-built BMC/BL cars had their unique colour range…

I remember reading this news and turning to the guy in the university computer lab, and saying: "that's interesting, Apple have released a hard disk that can play music".

Also, it's odd that the iPod and Windows XP were released in the same week (iPod Tue 23 Oct 2001, XP Thu 25 Oct 2001).

24 years ago today, Apple launched the iPod.

Not blaming James for this, but a side-effect of this piece of bluffery is a lot of people on Bluesky claiming that "DNS is down" (it's not), and that that today's problems are being caused by a "massive cyber attack" (unproven, fairly unlikely, but possible).
Pro-tip: if you want to look knowing about the general chaos right now, the only phrase you need to learn it “It’s DNS. It’s *always* DNS.”

Ideally, accompany it with an understated eyeroll.
