They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

Every time I read The Great Gatsby, the final paragraph brings me to tears. Breathtakingly powerful writing:

This week my English 9 students read “Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl; they used the Building Thinking Classrooms Instructional Framework to deepen their critical analysis of the text. My students answered Text Dependent Questions at whiteboards, $ I was impressed by their thoughtful responses

What poems do you ❤️ teaching in your classroom that students both love and analyze well?

“Crossing the Bar” by Alfred Lord Tennyson is a poem that made my students feel like English scholars after analyzing. I linked the #poetry analysis document.

Spent the afternoon polishing my presentation for #VASCD24. I’m presenting on Wednesday, and I can’t wait to discuss the importance of leveraging your specialist team. Too often we work in isolation. When specialists collaborate, we are able to better support the needs of teachers and students.

Finished reading Emma by Jane Austen. I love Emma’s voice and perspective. Shes deliciously conceited and self-possessed. I appreciated finding out the truth about certain events at the same time Emma did. Looking forward to starting Persuasion next .

You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

I watched the 1st & 2nd episode of The Day of the #Jackal on #Peacock. Eddy Redmayne and Lashana Lynch depict the main characters well. The disguises are believable and the plot is captivating so far. Check it out.
