It's proving surprisingly hard to write for the public about ancient art that I love without sounding like "here are my weird little guys look at my weird little guys!"

My completely unpleasant take is that you cannot make a career of inciting others to violence and normalizing using politics as a motive for violence and expect a good outcome. There has been a decade of sewing. And the reaping is of a bitter bloody harvest. My condolences to the children.

Thinking about gig workers in DC right now. The situation has put some clarity towards my long-held feelings:

If I were aware of a business model which relies on putting its workers in precarious positions, I would not contribute to that business model's demand.

I don’t think the NRA or any republican politician is good but it is fun to watch them eat each other

I have no love in my heart for the NRA.

However…In this political climate the teeny tiny bit of consistency is nice I guess
Oh my god, Trump actually got the NRA to come out to defend trans people owning a gun.

the intensity of my anger at those who would criminalize the homeless — a population literally created by the greed and callousness of the ruling class — is very hard to contain. it was you who dismantled the safety net. if you don’t like the results, put it back

I don’t write erotica, porn, whatever you want to call it, and I don’t really read it, either.

It’s still important. Defend it, love it, share it.

I'm actually going to have a little rant about this.

The reason why a 'Joe Rogan of the Left' or a 'Stephen Miller of the Left' or a 'Steve Bannon of the Left' can't work is because you are fundamentally misunderstanding what the appeal of these guys is.
There's nothing that centrists can agree on more than "we need more fascists"
I will note something I keep hearing from different lawyers, immigration activists, Dem operatives et al:

There is no Democratic Stephen miller . And that’s a problem

Mass-market paperback format needs to make a comeback. It’s the perfect size to carry around in your pocket—same size as your phone, more or less. Books today are all hardback or trade sized. If I had a steady stream of mass-market paperbacks in genres I was interested in I’d do a lot more reading.

it's a real problem that people think this. fascism is not the result of, like, two sides getting more and more extreme. that is not what it is.

fascism is dedicated to murder, and it wins when people treat it like a regular political movement that needs to be compromised with and normalized.
fascism is not "a race to the bottom." it is a very conscious movement to *literally murder political opponents.* you fucking useless tool.
Gerrymandering is bad actually

And anyone, even governors, who are proposing this are playing a dangerous game that’ll further undermine democracy and further the race to the bottom of fascism

These eulogies to famous men who failed the calling of Christ on a fundamental level has become very tiring
John MacArthur demanded that women stay in marriages when they were being abused by their husbands. In some cases, those men were also abusing their children, including sexual abuse. It doesn't matter how good a preacher MacArthur was; he failed at the most essential work of pastoring his flock.
Died: John MacArthur, Who Explained the Bible to Millions - Christianity Today
The Southern California preacher wanted to illuminate Scripture with Scripture and separate real Christians from false.

I wrote 2000 words today on why I think the discourse between Allo and aromantic/asexual people is largely cursed and why us aro/ace people often feel neglected in our friendships.

Might show it to an allo friend, please send thoughts and prayers

Honestly, think this is a good example of “mistakes happen” and “unfortunate things happen” and like blame isn’t the right framework. Like maybe both ppl can talk about how to avoid similar mistakes in the future.
So let’s say hypothetically someone washed their partner’s passport bc it was left in their pants pocked for a full week after their trip. Who is more to blame? The laundry do-er for not checking, or the person who left their passport in their pants for a week
