We saw the Guard in the area I grew up in primarily for flood & severe weather relief. The people I knew who joined the Guard wanted to *help* their community when the shit hit the fan, not shoot people for protesting.
I completely second this.
I’m frequently disturbed by how many people on here don’t seem to actually know or talk to anyone in the military or national guard (or who has been in them in the recent past).
