It’s funny how much “real life politics are like my favourite pop culture property” is a meme about liberals considering the only people I’ve seen doing it sincerely were leftists

Protestors waving Mexican flags is probably not the best optics but there being protests at all is probably worse optics for trump so I don’t think it matters that much

I love social media, the take “people who are constantly high shouldn’t be running the government” has led to debate between “nobody should ever do drugs” and “actually drugs don’t affect behaviour”

if you spent the 2024 campaign saying that Democrats would be every bit as bad as Trump on immigrants, on trans rights, etc - this is you. you were lying to others and possibly yourselves.
none of you gave a solitary shit about the fully predictable harm of a second Trump administration until when people warned you. it's just infantile politics.

The movement bannon does is completely different from the one musk did. The fact that media is describing them as being the same or similar makes it abundantly clear they're well aware of what it is
I am so sick of this shit. It’s a Sieg Heil. It’s a Nazi salute. Anyone who sees it knows. It’s ridiculous that legal departments presumably won’t let media call it what it is. Bannon made “a provocative gesture that resembled the salute Elon Musk gave at a post-inauguration rally”? Fuck off.

Coke is often used as a a positive case study of an organization that did diversity right (after a bruising loss in an anti-discrimination suit). Conservatives claim to be free marketers, but by forcing companies to end anti-discrimination policies, they put bigotry over profits.
🧵 NEWS: Coca-cola says rolling back DEI poses risk to business. Coke is clinging to its DEI initiatives, despite threats:

Trump executive order, US Attorney General Pam Bondi, state attorneys general, EEOC chief, Stephen Miller, anti-DEI shareholder activists

I understand why it’s the case but it’s very frustrating that so many Elixir libraries don’t support windows without the need to build locally

Update: I can read posts from my notebook, and I can display images. I'm losing my mind resizing them though (I'm using elixir liveview).
On the bright side I get to see all your thumbnails in big!

Testing another approach, still can't read posts though

The horrors of this past week reminded me how batshit insane some of the anti-Dem rhetoric online during the election was, and upon reflection I think this was really a stand out performance from Bree.

A lot of booktok people are here now, so this is a good chance to introduce you to one of my favorite writers.

He’s a BIPOC queer author that deals with the struggle of masking his homosexuality in a postwar society and he REALLY hates American imperialism for what they’ve done to his country.

The lore/worldbuilding discourse is weird to me because it suggests there’s one right answer. The right type of lore is the type of lore that suits the story!

Tbh I think the easy prediction on most particularly crazy high profile things Trump proposes is “He will walk right up to the line, extract a meaningless fake concession, then declare victory and seek credit for never stepping over it”

To go a step further, the amount to which conservatives fight to sound normal and like their positions are the default is dwarfed by the extent leftists will go to sound like they’re the most radical and extreme possible
The entire reason this motte and bailey thing is so common amongst lefties is because they're dual wielding ragebait and virtue signaling so they use insane activist speak to farm interaction with the out group and show how ideologically committed they are to the in group
Leftist rebranding of words to mean something very different from what they literally mean – sometimes to mean the thing they claim to oppose! – is a genuine problem.

Netanyahu responded: “Not officially. OK, so you’re the unofficial president.”
