Not only was this my answer, it's actually my only answer
Weird oddity: I have only ever not finished one book, and it was the first book of the Thomas Covenant series, and it was because I absolutely hated the intro, which I am given to understand is not at all like the entire rest of the multibook series.
What's the fastest y'all ever DNF'd a book? I recently put one down one paragraph into the foreword when the author suggested I go look at their Pinterest moodboard for the book and then go listen to their Spotify soundtrack for it. In the foreword!!

And there's really zero chance that they *add* favorability. Odds are good they're going to shoot a priest in a car within 30 days.

Gername to the original QT... here is no problem in the space {unemployed ex-ICE guy} that is worse than {that same guy except he operates under the color of law}.

It's worse when he has a badge, always.
As it stands right now, if someone shoots an ICE officer, or even hits one, in justifiable self defense, their life is almost certainly destroyed, assuming they aren't immediately killed.

Would rather face the wildly violent guy without him also operating under the color of law, myself.

Systems function as such by having internal boundaries that direct signals and flows. Without that it’s just noise and sludge.
