This reporting in WSJ makes it highly likely that the district court will dismiss the indictment Lindsey Halligan brought against James Comey on the grounds of vindictive or selective prosecution. This is a claim that is very difficult to prove. But here is the evidence.

there’s always a dark undercurrent of “but enough of the electorate voted for these bozos so we all have to deal with their poorly executed attempts at a dictatorship” but at least i can laugh at how poorly executed it is and that some of this is still getting dismissed

A Colorado restaurant is helping out furloughed government workers! The special runs from October 6-10th, 11 AM through 2 PM. Furloughed workers get a free sandwich with a side or salad with a protein, plus one free beverage (including beer and wine!).

I find this encouraging, from @indivisible.org:

A defining feature of an emerging authoritarian regime is that it makes the opposition feel like shit on a daily basis. Every day, there is some new atrocity committed; some new institution attacked; some new democratic norm demolished. Some of it -- much of it -- we have little ability to stop in the moment.

But that’s not how to measure the health of an anti-authoritarian movement. Instead, we should measure it this way:

Are we more unified than we were before?
Are we bigger than we were before?
Are our tactics proliferating?
Is the regime’s popularity falling?

now that i have 1.5 years of climbing in gyms under my belt, i tried seeing what Yosemite climbing grade Everest could be only to find that the answer is none, it’s “just” a deadly icy hike where seracs (which i imagine to be like frozen ocean waves that malinger above trekkers) could fall on you

climbing outdoors is fun partly bc of the puzzle aspect (anything could be a hold! but also there might be no good holds) but doing it in the snow and ice? at an elevation called “the kill zone”? 🙅🏻‍♀️

it’s gotten worse since i have actually started (gym!) climbing as my active hobby. my legs start shaking (from actual fatigue) if i’m having a hard time trying to figure out the next move on a wall with brightly colored plastic holds in a climate controlled room!
