This reporting in WSJ makes it highly likely that the district court will dismiss the indictment Lindsey Halligan brought against James Comey on the grounds of vindictive or selective prosecution. This is a claim that is very difficult to prove. But here is the evidence.

there’s always a dark undercurrent of “but enough of the electorate voted for these bozos so we all have to deal with their poorly executed attempts at a dictatorship” but at least i can laugh at how poorly executed it is and that some of this is still getting dismissed

Getting more people to call this fascism… I get it. And as more do, what do we do with this increased consciousness?

Thinking of Ruth Wilson Gilmore noting, "At stake is not only how we fight to win, but also how prepared we are for victories. Prepare to win means be ready for the morning after."

not me smirking internally whenever someone pronounce the “p” in Hampden
merriam-webster.com
What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

ahhh it took me a moment to realize that you’re talking about the place name, not the action, lol

Couldn't be simpler to reconcile the two! Just assume the brain staffs up with its mature functions on a last hired, first fired basis.

A Colorado restaurant is helping out furloughed government workers! The special runs from October 6-10th, 11 AM through 2 PM. Furloughed workers get a free sandwich with a side or salad with a protein, plus one free beverage (including beer and wine!).

Since 2021, DCPS has become D.C.'s leading sponsor of H1-B visas for its employees.

But some 200 teachers who took jobs under the expectation that the school system would sponsor a green card are now facing uncertain futures, @maustermuhle.bsky.social reports.

like having OMB say “lmao, our admin’s best legal minds have looked at this and we think the 2019 law only applies to the 2019 shutdown (not withstanding the actual language in the law)” is clearly “we are choosing not to pay furloughed staff, out of spite”

this is such a weird move to me bc i would think it just reinforces the idea that the GOP is culpable and is actively inflicting harm *but* idk, i have never been anywhere close to a political fencesitter. i have no idea how this looks to the NYT focus groups of the politically ignorant

“some legal analysts” may as well be as good as saying “chatgpt told me”

Johnson: "It's true that in previous shutdowns, many or most furloughed employees have been paid for the time they were furloughed, but there is new legal analysis - I don't know the details, I just saw a headline - but there are some legal analysts saying that might not be appropriate or necessary"

anyway i’m also thinking about this bc i’m looking at local climbing retreats for next year and one of them is “summiting Seneca Rocks” which is like… 2400 ft high. a little baby. but part of me is like “whoa whoa. summiting? me?”

now that i have 1.5 years of climbing in gyms under my belt, i tried seeing what Yosemite climbing grade Everest could be only to find that the answer is none, it’s “just” a deadly icy hike where seracs (which i imagine to be like frozen ocean waves that malinger above trekkers) could fall on you
ithadtobewho.bsky.social
i can roll w it just bc i know that i will never end up there, lmao. i may as well be reading sci fi

climbing outdoors is fun partly bc of the puzzle aspect (anything could be a hold! but also there might be no good holds) but doing it in the snow and ice? at an elevation called “the kill zone”? 🙅🏻‍♀️
ithadtobewho.bsky.social
it’s gotten worse since i have actually started (gym!) climbing as my active hobby. my legs start shaking (from actual fatigue) if i’m having a hard time trying to figure out the next move on a wall with brightly colored plastic holds in a climate controlled room!
