This is what Russia, Turkey, Hungary, Poland, Venezuela all did: An autocratic leader tries to stifle the courts. The founding fathers were aware of that in the 1700s, which is why they established the judiciary as a co-equal branch of government. Autocrats don't believe in independent judges.

Ukraine did what he asked; Russia did not; and now he will blame Ukraine and cozy up to Russia. This whole peace thing is a distraction from the ongoing war that Ukraine has no choice but to fight because it is being asssulted every day.
