The Josh Kraft playbook.
Once again, it seems that openly detesting the city you’re running for mayor is wildly appealing to angry suburbanites who moved out of the city 40 years ago and that’s pretty much it.

Cuomo congratulates Mamdani: "Tonight is his night. He deserved it. He won."

Hasn't fully conceded, will wait for RCV count and weigh an independent run, but beginning to admit that Mamdani will be the nominee.

I was (still am) bullish on ZM winning the primary, but I didn’t think he had a snowball’s chance in hell of coming out on top on the first ballot. Wow.

lol my mother was losing her mind telling me that a trump voter she knows sent her a screenshot of some article talking about federal agencies banning celebrations of mlk day, pride month, etc. like “this is crazy!!! can you believe this shit?”, and my mom had to very calmly be like “…………yeah”
Everyone who pays alot of attention to politics right now is losing their mind because it’s really difficult to understand how the majority of people are just like “yep living my life, oh a program to hire more women? Idk sounds good to me, I voted Trump to lower inflation hopefully he’s doing that”
Favorability of DEI Programs:

Favorable: 45%
Unfavorable: 36%
Net: +9%

every single Republican in Congress is a massive cuck, never seen anything like this. we are in a constitutional crisis because these people are far more pathetic than the founding fathers could have ever imagined
JUST IN: Sen. Grassley tempers his longtime defense of inspectors general, saying USAID IG Paul Martin "should have been fired" over fraud there. Urged Trump to use admin leave to work around law mandating 30-day notice. Grassley: "I'm just trying to make the president's job easier."

Since JD Vance just converted to Catholicism 5 minutes ago, he might not know this: the Pope authoring a letter where he goes out of his way to correct you, specifically, is considered "bad" in the Catholic tradition
MAJOR BREAKING: Pope Francis has written a letter to US Bishops saying he’s following “major crisis” of “mass deportations;” takes on Vance saying “The true ordo amoris that must be promoted is that which we discover by meditating constantly on the parable of the “Good Samaritan”

The American Bar Association has just called upon every attorney, regardless of their political views, to join them & stand up for the rule of law & at minimum insist that our government "follow the law."

Every lawyer has an ethical responsibility to do so.

Semi-interesting discovery from tonight’s genealogy deep dive: I have ties to two U.S. Ambassadors to Norway who served nearly consecutively. (Margaret Tibbetts was my dad’s grandfather’s cousin; Thomas Byrne was my mom’s step-grandfather’s cousin.) No family connection to Norway otherwise. 🤷‍♂️

The core selling point of Trumpism is that other people's suffering will be your gain. So when something awful happens--a plane crash, a mass shooting, you name it--they cannot and will not offer solutions. All they will offer is more suffering.

I adore Raskin, and this is in no way meant to be a criticism of him, but it is extremely funny that the media is trying to frame his campaign against Nadler as an example of the young’uns taking on the old guard, when the young’un in question is about to turn 62.

No one knows the future - both what Trump will actually do, and what the effects will be - but it truly was the case that that Trump’s *explicit campaign promises* were to basically destroy the recovery.

“Trans people are to blame, for some reason” post-election takes are the worse post-election takes, but the “you can’t blame trump voters 🥺 they had no idea what they were voting for 🥺” takes are coming in at a close second

look, no one can predict what'll happen by january, but putting gaetz and hegseth and possibly even gabbard and noem in front of a thune-led senate doesn't look like a total dominance victory, it looks like an oncoming disaster that will snarl the entire first year of the term

My plea to reporters is to not call it the Department of Government Efficiency. It is not a Department. It is almost certainly going to a Federal Advisory Committee, and it is very important that reporters accurately convey that Vivek and Elon are working on an advisory committee.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive
