Generative AI is melting our only planet.

Don’t use it.

ChatGPT wastes 10x the amount of water as Google.

And last year, Google was in talks to purchase 8 nuclear reactors in order to power their own AI.

This is not sustainable.

Stop using it today. It’s literal Earth Day.

Happy last treatment if my acute Ketamine series! If you have treatment resistent depression, talk to your doctor about it. It's saved my life three times now.

Lately I think a lot about Kalonymus ben Kalonymus, a 13th century Provençal Jewish transgender scholar and poet. She wrote about her longing to be a woman and live a woman's life. She lived in a time and culture where being trans was impossible, but she still dared to dream.

Free yourself from singular "themselves." Chicago 18th edition says "themself" is correct for singular they. (And also says neopronouns are valid!) #AmEditing

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

I'm a reading specialist, and I condone this message.
Sometimes it’s okay to DNF a book and come back to it years later.

I have DNFed Gideon the Ninth two times. I could not connect with it.

This is my third time reading it and I am loving it. And I can’t wait to finish it.

So, put that book down and come back to it later.

This is my great-great* grandmother. I don't know her name, but the story I've been told is that she is #Cherokee and was on the trail. I'd like to find out more about her, and my #genealogy, especially since my DNA tests showed no Native American blood.

*There are likely more greats in there.

I’m pleased to share that we FINALLY submitted our latest manuscript on SARS-CoV-2 cryptic lineages and what they tell us about the origins of COVID-19.
This was a ton of work.

Detecting SARS-CoV-2 Cryptic Lineages using Publicly Available Whole Genome Wastewater Sequencing Data
Beginning in early 2021, unique and highly divergent lineages of SARS-CoV-2 were sporadically found in wastewater sewersheds using a sequencing strategy focused on the most mutagenic region of SARS-Co...

The last school I was at had about 6 buckets of random books in a tiny room. That was it. That was the library.
Sharing again:

📚 school libraries are often underfunded

📚 schools in marginalized areas (urban & rural) are often underfunded

📚 independent bookstores need support

👉 request school library book wishlists
👉 find indie bookstore nearby
👉 buy wishlist books from indie store & donate to school

Is this not my dream scenario or what?
Today, my D&D players will be returning a runaway land shark to a faerie circus. Their reward? A magical coin (one time use) that can transform the battlefield into...a musical. Why? Because sometimes I want to be the reason things are chaotic. *nefarious DM laughter ensues*

In "Wicked" they name-checked Mombi, but didn't show her and I'm glad, because in 1985 my mommy took me to see "Return to Oz," and ever since my nightmares have been haunted by Mombi's HALLWAY OF SCREAMING SEVERED HEADS

The memorial tree for my Papa. I was trying to figure out the best fruit bearing tree to pick for him, when this gorgeous olive tree showed up from my cousin Amy. It's perfect, he loved olives so much. It will be planted in his honor at Temple Beth Shalom in New Albany, Ohio.

Unexpected moment of joy: Hearing the neighbor yell "Dolly! DOLLY!" through the wall as he attempts to get his clearly problem child dog to simmer down. Why does this make me happy? Who knows, but it makes me want to bring him a plate of cookies every time.
