GOP Rep Gabe Evans has used his heritage and his family's immigration story as a shield against criticism of his support for Trump's deportations. @chasewoodruff.bsky.social reports that the story isn't true.
Colorado Republican Rep. Gabe Evans has centered his pro-Trump political identity — and his support for mass deportation — on the story of his Mexican-American grandfather, who he has repeatedly said immigrated “the legal way.”

Documents show that isn’t true.

China's total dominance of rare earth element mining and refining represents a huge risk to the American (and European) economy.
Op-ed: U.S. is losing rare earth metals war to China, and running out of time to win it back
The rate earth metals issue shows that it's time for the United States to treat critical minerals not as commodities, but as instruments of geopolitical power.

The election for Colorado AG seems a long way away, but now is the time to build staff and infrastructure and get the word out. Michael Dougherty has so much experience and success as a prosecutor and has bipartisan support. Jenna Griswold does not have the background to be an effective AG.

Terrifying. Chances of it getting better with an FDA run by Makary? Jury's out.
In 2022, inspectors described a “cascade of failure” at one foreign factory.

The FDA barred it from shipping drugs to the U.S. — then excused more than 20 drugs from the ban, despite risks to consumers.
Threat in Your Medicine Cabinet: The FDA’s Gamble on America’s Drugs
A ProPublica investigation found that for more than a decade, the FDA gave substandard factories banned from the United States a special pass to keep sending drugs to an unsuspecting public.

In our purple-turning-blue state we still have to deal with these extreme wingnuts who have convinced other wingnuts to elect them.
Leading Colorado Republicans are blaming Democrats for the antisemitic terror attack in Boulder. Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinksy says Gov Jared Polis and other state leaders are not really Jewish and belong to a “demonic cult.” #copolitics

Nauseating to hear in today's Cabinet lovefest Trump claim some kind of win with TSMC's third plant breaking ground in Arizona. Of course this twit probably knows that Biden's CHIPS Act is responsible (the plants produced chips in 2024), but lying and gaslighting is their stock in trade.
